We had a big storm this morning. At 10:30 it was pitch black, as if Mordor had taken over Paris! It was quite an extraordinary "intro" for the first test of the
Baccalauréat, beginning at 8:00: the Philosophy exam.
I didn't invigilate it but, as usual, I give you the Philosophy topics(poorly translated by me). The pupils had 4 hours to compose but could choose between two essays and a text commentary (I won't give you the texts, only the topics for the essays):
Series L ( Literature stream):
- Le langage n'est-il qu'un outil ?/Is language only a tool?
- La science se limite-t-elle à constater les faits ?/ Is science confined to recording facts?
Series S (Sciences stream):
- Peut-on agir moralement sans s'intéresser à la politique ?/May we behave morally without being interested in politics?
- Le travail permet-il de prendre conscience de soi ?/Does work allow one to be aware of oneself ?(I'm sure this translation is horrible!)
Series ES (Economics and social sciences):
- Que devons-nous à l'Etat ?/ What do we owe the State?
- Interprète-t-on à défaut de connaître ?/Do we interpret for lack of knowing?
