JUSTIFIED returns in January 17 !!!!
Until then, I have a few episodes of Boardwalk Empire left to watch. I have finished season 1 and already up to episode 4 in season 2. I really like the show.
I love Nucky and I adore Rothstein. I even like Jimmy now. Michael Pitt sort grew on me finally. Also, after the drag that was Angela's storyline last season, I think they may have found something to do with her character. Or maybe it's just Richard Harrow that makes everything better around him (he's such a compelling character!). BTW scars and half-faced men have been piling up lately. Margaret continues to be a complex and human character with fabulous dresses and hats. Definitely a good match for Nucky Thomson.
Van Alden remains my biggest problem on the show. Too much over the top. I prefer Gillian's way of being creepy and damaged (yes I'm hinting as her relationship with her son whose "little winkie" she used to kiss when he was a baby and she was 13). Having Gillian live with Jimmy and Angela is a good way to explore the dynamics between those characters.
And I can't stand Lucy. She looks high all the time! That said, her "relationship" with Nelson has helped to make him less unidimensional.
On the other hand, Hell on Wheels is really becoming a bore (it was cartoonish and lacked depth but at least it was entertaining!). I kept yawning while watching the last episode and looking at the clock! I'm losing interest. The villain has been the highlight of the show until now but even Durant was boring in "Jamais je ne t'oublierai" and don't get me started about the other characters, or Super Pretty Cowboy. This is not Deadwood. Actually it's quite campy and cheesy. Not sure I will stick to it.
The Walking Dead is still poorly written but there's Daryl (you may have noticed that I like Daryl...) and the final scene of the latest episode (mid-season final I guess) was well excuted
. To tell the truth it was extremly contrived. How convenient for Sophia to be the last walker coming out tof the barn! Also, the minute I heard the noise I knew it had to be her, especially given that a few viewers have already figured it out (not sure the timing work btw) but it was well executed, and it made sense for Rick to shoot her. "Nice" call back to the pilot when he shot the little girl in the opening scene. That's what Rick is good at, shooting kid zombies! Also after the massacre of Hershel's people it balanced things out that their Sophia had to be put down too. At least the looking for Sophia dragging plot is over. Apparently it's a big change from the comics in which the girl didn't die but became the one Carl protected. Some times changes are for the best. it's like Daryl who didn't exist in the comic books. I know that stuff from the comments on the AV/TV. Club. unfortunately I also spoiled myself concerning the secret whispered to Rick's ear at the end of season 1. But I don't mind much for I am not that invested in the story.
Also reading what commenters post on the TV Club -- after I have watched the episode-- is often a lot of fun, like that comment pointing out how many conservative views were showed/supported on screen, about abortion or gun control, and ending up saying that there was a Occupy The Barn zombie movement. That one made me laugh.
