Today was a holiday in France, but since I'm on a training leave, and therefore not dependent on school holidays, I usually don't pay attention to those things...yet I decided to "take the day off" and not work at all on my thesis!
Instead, I read stuff that has nothing to do with Middle Ages,played the piano, watched Rolland Garros tennis games, and treated myself with the two-parter opening of Deadwood's season 2 !!!!
And Skylar from Breaking Bad was in it! I do love it when my favourite shows are connected to each others. It was before she got tits though (I now understand why viewers said the actress had gotten boob job!!!)
Anyway the episodes were great. I so love those characters and the way the show is written.
The Bullock/Alma sex scene was great. the passionate coupling, especially given that EVERYBODY had to share in a way, and the aftermaths provided a very intimate scene in which Alma was superb, like La Maja Desnuda, half naked on the bed. It was both etheral and sensual, even erotic; Such warmth while those characters are so icy when dressed!
Jane's return was fantastic "Cocksucker!"; Cochrane was his usual self (I love that character!); Sol Star made me melt as usual, etc.
And that scene when Al and Bullock fought and fell off the balcony! Al the God falling from the high, into the mud, doomed to see things at the same level as those human insects and then losing his "power" because of a child's gaze !!! Perfect!!!!
And when he found himself face to face to Jewel it was simply hilarious.
And the scene when Alma went to check on Seth while bringing a basket for Mrs Bullock. Very well done! The shot of her back, as she was about to leave with Ellsworth, and Bullock's face was fantastic. You could tell how excruciating it was for both of them, and that they were almost brushing against one another. By the way Bullock's jacket moved when she left.
Dan broke my heart (such a man-child!)and the episode was very good at pointing out the relationship between characters Dan/Al; Sol/Trixie; Seth/Sol; Charlie/Bullock; Cochrane/Jane; Dan/Adams and Cy/Joanie;
Of course Al's last monologue, as he was telling a lie for the newspaper was spot-on.
