Ladies and gentlemen we've got tv show!

Well, two shows actually.

I watched the pilot and second episode of AMC's new series, The Killing and I'm already hooked! Yes, AMC did it again (except that I guess this show to be actually better than The Walking Dead).

I haven't seen the Danish series this is based on, but many things look sort of familiar and it was difficult not to think of Twin Peaks first (the premise of the dead young girl, certain shots, the score even called it to the audience's mind), but this show seems to have its very own style and atmosphere actually and the spirit isn't Lynch-like at all. And the acting was terrific, from the readheaded lead, Sarah Linden, a strong yet sorta mysterious police woman that is totally my cup of tea (and she's very beautiful in a special and unusual way), to Michelle Forbes who plays the victim's mother (I have never seen her that good actually). The pilot was excellent and the second part was also well done, and left me wanting more, and wanting to know more about all those characters (given that they all seem to hide something and walk on a thin line between creepy land and nice land). Also many things in The Killing made me think of BSG/Caprica (not only Forbes, but a few others actors including the sexiest cylon ever who guest-starred here...) which is always a plus.

Also, thanks to shadowkat67 's gentle nudge I'm catching up on Justified and enjoying it very much. I'm 4 episodes into season 1 and the fourth episode, "Long in the Tooth" was fantastic. This is not a groundbreaking series but so far it has a superb gallery of characters, Timothy Olyphant is great (and you know I have a soft spot for tall long-legged men), and, above all, the dialogues are priceless!

justified, the killing
