Out of Marking Hell !

I am not quite on Holiday yet for there's the deliberations next Monday and then the oral exams for those who failed but not too much, but the worst is now behind me.

Marking Hell didn't prevent me from wathing the finale of Doctor Who season 5 and the last True Blood.

In regards to DW new school, that was the best finale I have seen. I still think that "Blink" is the best episode Moffat has written so far but he really did well with this finale. "The Pandorica Opens" and "Big Bang" provided terrific moments, great lines, cool things like Eleven's big speech in Stonehenge, or before that the fight with the "arm" and "head" (I would have never thought that some day I would find the Cybermen cool but I did!) and everything River did in both episodes; it delivered epic and romantic stuff (The Centurion who never left the box!)and managed to wrap the season up; we also got moving moments but nothing too sappy (unlike what RTD did in the last special with Ten!) and a happy ending that worked like a charm instead of being forced on us. I usually don't like happy endings but that one worked and I adored how Amy finally conjured both the Doctor and the Tardis with the words "something ancient, something borrowed...something blue!". It was a perfect resolution.

I would have never expected that I would like a Tennantless DW this much. Eleven works for me even though he doesn't have the depth and darkness Ten had, and Moffat's writing is quite good (as good as it can be considering that DW is still mostly aiming at kids). I liked Amy and eventually Amy/Rory won me over. It's strange because Moffat's DW is less 'shippy than RTD's but the pairing finally works very well, better than the ones from the Ten's era.

I wish that Moffat would write every episode.

The third episode of this third season wasn't as good as the previous ones. It was mostly over-the-top but I liked:

- King Russel, because he is classy and clever.
- Lafayette of course, even though we didn't see much of him (the car scene with Eric was good and so was the dialogue with Jason)
- Franklin, the vampire PI, both charming and scary/creepy (the scene with Jessica and the head was very funny!)
- Sookie's new sexy bodyguard. Can I have him too? Eric must have lost his mind...

We've got three sex scenes in the episode:

One was quite gratuitous (Pam and the Estonian dancer)but allowed the "lie back and think of Estonia" Bond-like joke; the second one involving Tara and Franklin was quite hot and intriguing; the last one between Bill and Lorena was just grotesque!

Jason's dumbness wasn't as funny as usual, as for Sam's storyline, it's kinda boring. Oh and I'm fed up with Jason seeing bullet holes too.

dw, true blood
