I've been writing articles for an expatriate magazine here, and my latest was an interview with a landscape historian. We met at Laduree, a fancy pastry shop/cafe with two locations in Paris--we chose the one on the Champs-Elysee.
Heavenly. Their macarons are the best I've eaten (have I already posted about this before?). It's absurdly expensive (try 1.50 euros for one macaron, 7 euros for a pot of tea), but it fulfills your fantasy of having a little treat in Paris.
When Ace told his grandmother about it that night, he said I'd been "une petite parisienne." Because I dressed up and went tripping along to have tea with my buddy?
It was fun, though, I'll say that much. Best people-watching I've done in years.
