Chapter 22
Reid was in his hotel room waiting for Luke’s call. He’d tried to watch some television, but nothing could hold his interest. He knew Luke was meeting with his parents today and he was anxious to know how the evening went.
While he was lying on his bed, waiting, he had dozed off but was rudely awakened by the chirping sound of his phone. It took him a brief moment to remember where he was before he answered the phone groggily.
“Hello?”
“You won’t believe what happened tonight.” Luke’s voice was loud and happy in Reid’s ear and he winced a little, pulling the phone away from his ear.
Reid yawned before answering. “Probably not, but judging by the way you sound, I assume it went well tonight.”
“Yeah well, you could say that,” Luke snickered. And he went on to tell Reid everything that had happened that evening from the dinner with his parents to the talk he had with Lucinda. Reid didn’t interrupt him once; he just sat there in stunned silence. Whatever he’d thought would happen between Luke and his family that evening, this certainly wasn’t it.
Finally, someone in Luke’s family knew about Luke’s biggest secret and the best part was, she didn’t even care.
“She thought you were handsome.” Luke said with a smile in his voice.
“She’s obviously right, but how would she know that?” Reid asked suspiciously. Luke mentally kicked himself for giving away his little secret.
“I, uh, downloaded a picture from the hospital website?” He admitted sheepishly. Reid’s chest felt a little warmer upon hearing that Luke wanted to have a picture of him, even if it was a crappy one from the hospital site.
“God, you are so sappy.” He said, but with a smile in his voice.
“Are you saying you don’t have any pictures of me anywhere, Dr. Oliver?” Luke immediately retorted.
Reid’s mind went to his laptop with more pictures of Luke on it then he, the genius, could count and decided not to answer.
“I can’t believe you told your grandmother today.” Reid said instead, shaking is head. “Well, I can believe it, but I never thought you would. Don’t take this the wrong way, but I didn’t think you would say anything to anybody until after the tournament. And even then… “
“Well, I wasn’t going to.” Luke admitted. “But obviously you haven’t met my grandmother; she’s relentless and immediately noticed something. I’m not sure what, but she definitely picked up on something.” He thought for a moment then laughed. “Actually, what she said was that I was glowing or something.”
“I’m glad she noticed and I am so proud of you for telling her.” Reid’s voice croaked a little at the last words and he rolled his eyes at himself for feeling emotional.
“Really?” Luke asked, smiling widely.
“Of course! This is a big step you took tonight, Luke. You should be proud of yourself too.” Reid told him.
“I am, trust me, I am. And I’m relieved and happy. She was just amazing about everything. You two totally should meet, I just know you’ll get along great.” Luke briefly imagined Reid and his grandmother together and it gave him a warm feeling in his chest to think about Reid meeting his family.
“Well, anyone who treats you like that earns extra points in my book, so anytime.” Reid said. He felt silent for a moment, trying to process what it would be like to meet Luke’s family. He cleared his throat, before continuing, “I wish I was with you right now, we should be celebrating this.”
“Me too.” Luke bit his lip. He missed touching Reid, feeling his body, looking into his eyes, which was weird considering they hadn’t touched each other all that much before he left. But what they had done had made a lasting impression on Luke. He had never felt so good in his life; no one made him feel the way Reiddid. And now when they had to resort to only talking by phone, just Reid’s voice could make his body hum with desire.
“What kind of celebration did you have in mind?” Luke breath hitched a little.
“You’ll know very, very soon.” Reid’s voice dropped and got husky.
“Wha-what?” Luke shot up in shock and his eyes darted to the door. “Are you… ?”
Reid hastily corrected himself. “No, no! I’m sorry, that’s not what I meant.” Reid sighed. “I’m so bad at this. I meant I will send you something later by phone.”
“Oh” Luke said, feeling oddly disappointed. Even though he had been the one to refuse to meet up, he had felt a rush of excitement and nervous anticipation shoot through him in the moment he thought Reid was standing outside his door.
“What is it then?” He asked, curiously.
Reid laughed. “I’m not going to tell you. It’s just something I heard that makes me think of you and what I want to do to you.” He said mysteriously. “I’d rather do it in person, but for now this will have to do.”
“You’re gonna send me dirty pictures of yourself, aren’t you?” Luke laughed. He had meant it as a joke, but damn if it wasn’t turning him on just thinking about it.
“Ha! No. That’s never gonna happen Snyder. But feel free to send me some of your own.” Reid said.
Reid and Luke talked some more, sharing thoughts, laughs and concerns and got to know even more about the other. And after their lengthy goodbye, Luke leaned back on the bench he was still sitting on, and let the events of the evening go through his mind again. He felt a bubbly feeling needing to get out, so Luke laughed out loud, throwing his head back and stretching his arms out over the back of the bench. Then he jumped up, still smiling and sprinted back to the hotel. He felt like singing and dancing, but thought better of it when he saw a few paparazzi standing outside the hotel, cameras ready. He slowed down his pace and looked down at the ground while he walked, hoping they wouldn’t notice him. But he was still about a hundred yards away from the entrance when one photographer noticed him and came running, calling out his name. The others followed swiftly and soon Luke found himself being photographed relentlessly, the flashlights of the cameras blinding him. They shouted questions at him, not even waiting for an answer. Not that Luke was going to give them any, he just kept walking as fast as he could, thankful that they weren’t there when he had left the hotel with his grandmother.
He reached the entrance without being harassed too much, and made it to his room quickly.
Mike was already in bed watching TV.
“Hey dude.” He greeted Luke.
“Hey.” Luke said, while removing his clothes all the way to his boxers and grabbing his pyjama pants. He went into the bathroom, brushed his teeth and pulled the pants on.
He exited the bathroom to find Mike looking at him expectantly.
“What?” He laughed.
“Well, how was it? You know, with your parents?”
Luke crawled into bed and let himself fall on his pillow. Then he turned his head towards Mike and smiled.
“Actually it went pretty well.” He admitted. “My father finally stood up to my mother a little and defended me, so that was a surprise. But my grandmother was the best.” Luke said and he continued to tell Mike what had happened.
Mike leaned up on one arm and watched Luke talk animatedly. When Luke finished, he said thoughtfully, “You’re happy.”
Luke looked at Mike in surprise. “Yeah, I guess I am.”
“I thought you were happy before all this happened. But your grandmother is right, this is different.”
Luke blushed and looked down. “I think before this summer I was content to a certain degree. But really happy? Maybe sometimes after a win, but it never lasted. Now, I don’t know if this thing with Reid will last, but I want to try. I just have to figure out a way.”
Before Mike could answer, Luke’s phone buzzed. He reached for it and Mike watched the expression on Luke’s face go from an innocent smile to a deep red blush as he read and Luke bit his bottom lip while shifting a little on the bed.
“What you got there, Snyder?” Mike teased. “Did the doctor send you something?”
Luke didn’t even answer, but quickly disappeared into the bathroom and locked the door. He took a deep breath and looked at Reid’s message again.
< I heard this song on the radio and I think it’s the sexiest thing I ever heard and the video isn’t bad either. It describes perfectly what I want to do to and with you. Enjoy. R>
In the few messages Reid had sent him the lyrics and the link to a song Luke didn’t know but having read the lyrics just now, Luke couldn’t wait to hear it. He clicked on the link.

Ooh I got a body full of liquor
With a cocaine kicker
And I'm feeling like I'm thirty feet tall
So lay it down, lay it down
You got your legs up in the sky
With the devil in your eyes
Let me hear you say you want it all
Say it now, say it now
Look what you're doing, look what you've done
But in this jungle you can't run
'Cause what I got for you
I promise it's a killer,
You'll be banging on my chest
Bang bang, gorilla
Ooh, yeah
You and me baby making love like gorillas
Ooh, yeah
You and me baby making love like gorillas
Yeah, I got a fistful of your hair
But you don't look like you're scared
You just smile and tell me, "Daddy, it's yours."
'Cause you know how I like it,
You's a dirty little lover
If the neighbours call the cops,
Call the sheriff, call the SWAT - we don't stop,
We keep rocking while they're knocking on our door
And you're screaming, "Give it to me baby,
Give it to me motherfucker!"
Oh, look what you're doing, look what you've done
But in this jungle you can't run
'Cause what I got for you
I promise it's a killer,
You'll be banging on my chest
Bang bang, gorilla
Ooh, yeah
You and me baby making love like gorillas
Ooh, yeah
You and me baby making love like gorillas
I bet you never ever felt so good, so good
I got your body trembling like it should, it should
You'll never be the same baby once I'm done with you
You
Oh, you with me baby making love like gorillas
Ooh, yeah
you and me baby we'll be fuckin' like gorillas
Ooh, yeah (Yeah, yeah, baby, baby, oh yeah, yeah)
You and me baby making love like gorillas

Reid had been honest when he’d said that the song made him think about everything he wanted to do to Luke’s body if they finally had some time alone. He could easily picture Luke writhing under him, moaning with pleasure, while hitting his chest and begging Reid to ‘give it to him’.
Reid just didn’t know how Luke was going to react to something like this. Well, if the dirty phone calls they had shared were any indication, he would be more than okay with it. But he didn’t know just how okay Luke was with it until his phone beeped, indicating an incoming message.
Reid opened the message and found himself staring at a flat muscled stomach, with a thin trail of hair disappearing into a pair of tight white boxer briefs where an impressive erection was clearly outlined through the thin fabric.
His mouth ran dry and he swallowed thickly and his jeans just got a lot tighter. Fuck… He groaned inwardly.
Another message appeared on his screen.
.
Reid took a deep shaky breath and fell back into the cushions. This whole ‘getting to know each other by talking on the phone’ was all well and good, but Reid wanted more. He wanted to get to know Luke in every way, emotionally and physically. God, he couldn’t wait for physical part.
He looked at the picture again and a plan began to form in his mind. Reid grinned to himself while slowly unbuttoning his jeans and slipping his hand inside. Yeah, Luke would definitely be surprised.
