Deciding to Use Kava #NLP #freespeech #Kava

Because Kava seems more intense than the average herb, I hesitated to use it, but after reflecting, I am deciding to use it.

When I haven't achieved my goals, I change things, as Albert Einstein's quote "The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results." prompts me to experiment, so I have been studying Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). One NLP book, The Structure of Magic II, recommends focusing on one communication system (auditory, kinesthetic, or visual) and making every element within that system consistent. Because my kinesthetic system dominates, I decided to focus on that.

Jim Rohn, Debbie Ford, Anthony Robbins, and Wayne Dyer have argued that success in any endeavor requires balancing two opposing forces. I have maximized kinesthetic purity, so I hypothesize that I better balance that out by embracing kinesthetic impurity, yet I want to do so without violating my convictions. As I mentioned in my book, Let's Use Free Speech to Praise Straight Edge, in the late 90's I declared myself straight edge (no alcohol, no smoking, no drugs.) After reading From Chocolate to Morphine in 2000, which discussed chocolate and caffeine, I overextended myself and abstained from chocolate and caffeine. But since I realized chocolate and caffeine differ in both degree and kind from drugs like alcohol, I started using chocolate and caffeine again. Like I mention in my book Let's Use Free Speech to Honor Convictions, I consider straight edge one of my fourteen core convictions, so I want to honor that conviction.

In his autobiography, Benjamin Franklin described how when he was deciding whether to do something, he wrote out a list of positives and negatives, so I have been doing the same when deciding matters. I hypothesize that relaxing herbs can balance me. Herbal Remedies For Dummies, Kava.com, Wikipedia, and other sources note that Kava has a depressant effect, but not like alcohol has. After listing out of the positives and the negatives of starting to use Kava, I realize the positives annihilate the negatives, and for among other reasons, I believe I can use it without compromising my straight edge convictions. Since Kava seems to differ from alcohol in both degree and kind, I am deciding to use it.

May using Kava enable me to achieve my goals while honoring my convictions!
