Now THAT was epic. I love when they have Stefan going out of control on human blood, that was one of my favourite arcs from season 1. Sooooo excited now for ripper Stefan for next season :bounces: And he sacrificed his humanity out of love for Damon :dies: Actually I was always a little disappointed last season that it was Elena alone that talked Stefan back from suicide after all the flashbacks with Stefan and Damon's turning in that episode, so I hope Damon plays a bigger role this time in saving Stefan from his own ~dark side~
I was happier with Damon/Elena scenes than I have been for a while because it felt like the writers (and well Ian tbh) were trying less hard to make them epic and create these intense eye-popping moments for Damon. It was more sweet than anything else, to me anyway. I also liked him telling Elena "Take all the time you need" and being less selfish with his emotions around her. Here's hoping season 3 has less of emo wanting to be human Damon, and more of him getting his shit together, being a bad-ass, and trying to save Stefan.
And ANNA!!! I love her, so I've got my fingers crossed for some kind of human/ghost (what, it could happen LOL) romance for her and Jeremy next season, and lots of appearances from her and Vicky :D Really I'm just happy that season 3 should finally give Jeremy something to do, and have him confront the loss of Anna hopefully. His storyline this season was pretty much dropped early on just to pair him off with Bonnie which was a real waste. Not that him and Bonnie aren't okay together, but they're also been pretty boring
And I'm glad that Katherine's not dead, and that they paid off her seeming to warm up to Damon this season by finally declaring that she did love both brothers. She also seemed genuinely concerned for Stefan, and I would so love if they used next season to give us the Stefan/Katherine that I was hoping for during the first half of this season. Just as long as they don't bring her back only to have her hanging out trapped in tombs, Klaus's place, and wherever else. That's a waste of her character
And the Caroline scene with her hugging her mother broke my heart. Caroline was so adorable this episode with her love of Gone With The Wind too, "All this waiting around for news is ruining Scarlett for me" *g*
And it look like Alaric might be Elena and Jeremy's new guardian, that final scene with Jeremy was pretty cute. And squee at Damon's fate being what snaps him out of his moping, I hope the show will continue focusing on their friendship for next season

Also the CW have picked up Sarah Michelle Gellar's pilot, "Ringer," to series, so it seems that the new network head really is trying to diversify the programing on their network which hopefully means good things for a second season of Nikta :fingers crossed:
