I loved episode 6, that was exactly what I'd been waiting to see. Was LMAO at some of the tv videos, very nicely done. I'm actually surprised Joss didn't include them in the pilot episode. And also LOL at the whole first meeting for Ballard and Echo with all of the "Porn!" from the scandalized wife
Victor is starting to grow on me bigtime. I didn't really care for the Russian mobster guy he was programed to be when he first met him, but when he's in his doll state (er is that the right term?) he's so sweet. It's kind of cute how innocent he is in his attraction to Sierra. And loved the confrontation with Sierra's handler when he pointed out that what the dollhouse itself does isn't all that different, and Adele isn't the right person to be judging him. Those were the kind of dark places I was expecting Joss to take the show too, instead of the shallow watch Eliza sing and walk around in her bra from previous episodes. I liked the parallels between the skeevy handler telling Sierra would you like to play a game, and Topher saying the same thing later on to Echo when they're about to do something to her mind instead of her body
Mellie kicking ass was an awesome moment! When we first met her I wasn't sure if she was a doll or not because it seemed kind of weird how she was just hanging out in the hallway and it seemed that she might have planted to keep an eye on Ballard, but I ended up thinking that she was for real so seeing her suddenly activated really shocked me. It felt like a very Joss moment to have the scene totally switch from what you were expecting to see as the helpless female suddenly turns around and starts kicking ass
I'm kind of loving Adele now. Hee at her comment on "I find it a bit sad that you see yourself as a candidate for anyones fantasy" to Sierra's handler. The Topher character creeps me out by reminding me too much of Warren though...
I liked that the mission wasn't the focus of the episode this time, but was used sparingly to shed more light on the characters we do care about, and the clients discussion with Ballard was pretty interesting when he commented on Ballard's obsession with Echo having his own fantasy element of getting to play the big hero. And I liked how the client using Echo this week did have somewhat understandable/touching motives, but at the same time Ballard called him out on it still being wrong to use a person like that for his fantasy.
Episode 7 continued with the being awesome :D I enjoyed seeing them use the ensemble more. It was especially sweet how Boyd took Echo's hand in the end and is all protective of her, reminds me so much of Buffy and Giles!
LOL at "Sorry for trying to burn you alive. That was really not cool", "Wow. Did not maintain control of that situation!" and "It's indomitable!" "I could eat that word." Adelle and Topher were just hilarious together, I love her! And the ending with her recruiting the student was so chilling
LOVED episode 8. It was pretty cool how they misled us into thinking the dolls escaping were to test the security, and then it was revealed at the end to be for an entirely different reason. Caroline was actually pretty badass in her confrontations with Adele and Topher, and I appreciated all of the areas the show wasn't afraid to adress in her confrontations with them.
And it was just adorable how sweet and protective Victor is of Sierra. What with the hand hold and the kiss I think I might be starting to ship them a little *g*
I'm a bit confused (and grossed-out!) over how exactly Sierra was supposed to have found closure though. She confronted her abuser who then taunted her with how he has had her brainwashed to perform for him, where's the closure? It wasn't like he even got a good beat-down, and throughout the confrontation it was pretty clear that he still held all of the power and Victor and Sierra ended up having to run from his security, so wouldn't she felt even more hopeless after that? That whole scene left even me feeling like I needed a shower, so I don't see where exactly closure was supposed to have come into it once Sierra knows exactly how she's been violated and the guy still gets away with it. I would have preferred if Victor had killed the skeevy client, that way it would make more sense with Sierra feeling she had closure, and Victor could also feel comforted at protecting Sierra which he had memories of not being able to do before.
Oh and Dr. Saunders became more interesting in this episode after coming across as a bit of a non-entity to me before. At first, when she was warning Caroline about the cameras, I kind of assumed that she's not a fan of the Dollhouse/has some other agenda. But her final talk with Boyd seems to suggest that she really does see the Dollhouse and the taking away of peoples freedom as a good thing because of protecting them from a world of "terror and chaos". She comes across as so sincere and softly-spoken that it's a bit creepy. She seems appalled when the Dolls are spoken of as pets, but that's pretty much how she prefers to keep them apparently, taking away their humanity to protect them from the world and actually seeing that as a good thing
