I HAS A WII I HAS A WII I HAS A WII!!!1!!11
So basically, we got done with a 2 hour long meeting at work dealing with accessibility in some courses that tend to have visually impaired students in them. Important stuff, and well worth a 2 hour meeting, but I digress. I get back to my desk and refresh the various webs pages that I monitor:
Pharyngula,
Memoirs of a Skepchick, and so on. One of these is
iTrackr. Lo and behold! 2 stores in my area have them in stock! I figure it's probably 2 of the local EB Games who don't update inventory in real time so by the time iTrackr finds out it's too late. I check anyway. First we have the Target in NLR. Probably accurate, but it's NLR and I can't really get there and back in an hour dependably. Second, the Circuit City on Markham. 15 minutes away!
"Hey, I'm gonna go get lunch. Back in a bit."
I get there, and the employee (who was very helpful and nice and really did want me to get my Wii) said they hadn't had any since Sunday. I says, I says "Well, this real-time web-thingy said you had some in stock as of about 15 minutes ago, so could you double-check?" (paraphrasing) She obliges and finds that yes they got some in earlier, but they're all sold already :(. But the Circuit City in NLR has a truck in transit to it with 6 Wiis on board. Doesn't do me much good though, as I have to get back to work. I silently curse the meeting that prevented me from learning of the Wii stockage earlier.
Then I gets to thinking. I have friends. Friends who live in NLR and have looser schedules than mine. Friends who can go to Circuit City and buy me a Wii. So I call one of them. He says he'll see if he can get out and check. A bit later I get a call. No luck. They are expecting a truck, but not until Saturday. :( I thank my friend and then think "Hmmm, what about that Target?" Check iTrackr; still in stock.
"How close are you to Target?"
"A couple blocks."
"They apparently have some in stock at this very moment."
"I'll check"
Ten mind-bending minutes later my phone rings again.
"You own a Wii."
WOOT! Hooray for my most awesome friends, and hooray for Wii!
