Well, life has changed a lot recently...

Two huge things have happened in the past month. Really, the past 3 weeks. I'm not going to say much about the first because I'll start crying. But the second makes me really really happy.

1. My mom died. December 4th, 2008. It was her and my dad's 32nd wedding anniversary. It was completely unexpected that it would happen then because she had kicked me out of her hospital room the night before and insisted that I go to class with plenty of energy. My dad barely made it back in time to say goodbye.

2. Dale asked me to marry him December 19th, 2008 at 8:12pm at the Bellagio Fountains. I accepted, of course. And now I have a new piece of bling to sport, which happens to be highly unusual because it's a spinel--which is a hell of a lot more rare than diamonds. And it shifts color from blue to purple, depending on the light. He had been planning on asking me in Vegas since we started planning the trip in September. When my mom was getting sicker, he tried to speed things up in the ring department, but she really took us all by surprise. He also knew that she would still want him to ask me then (she had guessed that was when he'd do it). Both Dale and my last conversations with her were about what we were going to do in Vegas. Plus, it was a trip that she had given us for Christmas.

In other news...Uh. I'll graduate with my BA in Psychology in December 2009. Then I have to get a job and support Dale until he graduates with his PhD sometime in 2011 or 2012.

I think we'll end up getting married January 2010. The wedding planning is seriously up for debate. I have to talk to my dad about what kind of wedding to have. I'm wanting less than 20 people in Vegas and I'm terrified that he's going to want 300+ in Albuquerque. Ugh.

Other news...Amy and Lindsey have been together for over a year and a half now. April 24th 2009 will mark 2 years. Totally weird for me that they've been together that long, but whatever.

Um. I have developed a serious shoe problem. I can't remember how many I own...I think its around 130 now. I think that the actual original price of the shoes adds up to over $10k, but between my stint at Shoes on a Shoestring, and my knack for bargain hunting (Casadei shoes that were originally $550, purchased for $110, among others) I haven't spent anywhere near that for them all. I actually had my wedding shoes before I got the engagement ring. Eh well. He gave me permission, and I got them only a few days before he proposed.

Christmas is going to be a bit of a crapshoot this year. Between my mom's passing, and our trip to Vegas, I haven't bought anything for anyone except Dale--and that is only because I did most of his shopping in October.

I hope all of my friends over here on LiveJournal are doing well.
