I wouldn't say I dislike it. I just prefer names that have some kind of meaning for them.

well haomaru was a character in a really old fighting game

maybe thats why i thought it would be cool to give that name to a fire type

It could, if the fire type was a male. It doesn't sound very fitting for a female, no matter what type they are.
