monday afternoon I left for the airport with a very rare just carry-on bag since I was just doing an overnight trip. Got all checked in and good but then the plane got delayed sitting on the runway about 40 minutes in Orlando and then when we landed in Atlanta it took us 30+ min to get parked at a gate. Thank You Delta, and esp since I was only going to Atlanta. At least I didn't have to wait for my bag and for once Hertz in Atlanta finally gave me a decent upgrade car a Camry...where was that the other week when I had to drive across half the state of georgia and back the other week. Still it took me 30 min to get up to Marietta and by then it was after 8pm so I was starving but thankfully found an Olive Garden near the hotel and got a bite before I checked in. Unfortunately the Courtyard there gave me a first floor room facing I75 with the highway on the other side of the parking lot?!? this is the second different couryard in atlanta to do this to me and unfortunately I had the tv on and didn't notice the road noise until I went to bed. So I fought it and tried to sleep but couldnt so at 1:45am I packed up and went to the front desk to ask for another room and finally got into bed around 2am, think I fell asleep by 2:30.
Got up at 8 on tuesday and didn't feel too bad even with the lack of sleep...spent most of the day at quintiles solving some relatively minor issues and then headed for the airport and got back to Hartsfield by 5pm. unfortunately my flight wasn't until 10pm and I couldn't safely finagle my way onto an earlier flight so I had to camp out there for much longer than I liked. again thankfully I only had a carryon so once we landed I shot right for the parking lot and got home around 12:15am. Wednesday I slept in and basically took the day off, relaxed caught up on internet and whatnot and cleaned the pool and vegged. After dinner I drove on down to FtMyers and once again had trouble with a courtyard argh. I just stayed at this place last week and had the same problem they put me in a room right on the elevator...and then when I said no he put me in a handicapped room....then when I complained the poor trainee (why leave a trainee alone on the desk?) got really nervous so I finally just ended up in the original room I think, clearly they were overbooked.
Thursday I woke up and ughh felt sick again..stupid damn airplanes/airports! So I went over to neogenomics and started getting that new unit set up, dave moe arrived around lunch time and we hit lunch and then spent the afternoon getting some good 10color settings. I actually surprised myself I managed to nail the correct voltages on the second try, and the first try was pretty far off. whew. so we ran some patients for Gabe and called it a day. Oh yeah and lunch didn't agree with me so on top of being sick I had to run to the restroom twice jeez! After we left I grabbed some dinner and collapsed in my room for hte night.
Friday I got up and went back to neo and tweaked thier comps some at least I was feeling better and not sick. I have to admit Gabe's method of combining all the 45s from the comp tubes into a verify tube did allow me to see more places where I needed a little comp. So after that I stained and ran 2 more patients (since I missed a few moabs the day before) and ran them using the new settings...the data looked really good IMO and Gabe was happy with the volts/comps so I took all the data with me for Les to look at and called it a day and headed for home around 2:30, cuz suddenly I was beat. John txtd me on the way home so I hit home, unloaded and changed and then headed over to mark+johns for dinner. we were going to go to sushin but it was closed so we ended up at Chef Henry's where Peter joined us....long meal but the food was really good. At least we managed to get alot of things discussed during dinner including the cruise, the fall gathering and bugzi's visit. After dinner I crashed and watched some tv and then went to bed.
Saturday I slept in and then spent the day catching up on things, I really did have alot on my to-do list besides the normal stuff....sent out invites for the fall gathering, arranged bugzi's visit, set up all my stuff for the cruise etc etc and got all my laundry done. Bonus when I got up on sat the weather had finally broken and it was going from the 60s to the 80s which was a very pleasant day. So saturday was basically a much needed veg/recharge day. Sunday I slept in again and then spent most of the afternoon catching up on a bunch of work stuff and work paperwork which had piled up on my desk, then cleaned the pool and went to dinner at the greek place with mark and john. weather was still cool and nice so all in all yeah a really nice relaxing weekend...and I need it cuz the next month or two are gonna be hella busy!
