so i feel like i've wasted a bunch of time this weekend, which i probably have, but that's ok. i deserve it no? i didn't really. i spent yesterday morning at practice, which was awesome. the 50's feeling really good and I'M NOT THINKING which is even better. i'm psyched for next weekend's meet in virginia. anyways, i napped and then went shopping with val for a gift for our swim coach. we got her this beautiful crystal water pitcher (swimming...water...water pitcher - it worked for us). then we brainstormed paper-plate award ideas. it's harder than it looks. i spent most of the early evening decorating paper plates. they look damn good and i hope people keep them. they probably won't. i think i'm the only one who keeps stuff like that. me and oren, so i hear.
went to see the time machine with (deep breath...) matt, adam, andrew, sueker, dan k, josh e, rob and ilan last night. the movie was good - short and not intricate, but it's message was important. i think it not only, at the end, spoke of what is truly important in life, but also dealth with dealing with the consequences of our actions...or is it our destiny?
we went to ihop at like 1 am. outside this woman approached us and asked if we had any food, or could buy her some food. well, she couldn't have picked a better group of kids. we (all 9 of us) went to the dunkin donuts across the street and bought her a sandwich and juice and then gave her money so she could catch the bus to the shelter where she stays. she couldn't stop smiling and asked while waiting for the d & d guy to make her sandwich, "where are you people from? earth?!" we surprised her. that made my day!
in the restaurant, since i was the lone girl among 8 guys, the waiter asked me if any of them was my boyfriend. i said perhaps, and then joked that i was actually with all of them. why did i do this when i am clearly involved with matt? truth is, i didn't know what to say...because he's not my boyfriend as far as i know, not that i'm hooking up with or seeing anyone else, nor do i plan to. i think i stopped myself in order to avoid making him feel uncomfortable...commitment, or the mention thereof, can scare guys away. he seemed quasi-offended after that though. so what was i supposed to say? well, mr. waiter, i am hooking up/seeing (exclusively from my point of view) that one right there. i don't quite know if you'd call it "boyfriend," but we're involved. the whole comment was quickly forgotten and i have no problem having no label. but does he...?
i drove home through the storm. i miss thunderstorms. the transvaal region is known for them back in SA. my parents were mad b.c i shouldn't have been out driving so late, alone, in a storm. grrrr.
heavy rain on the roof
reminds me of nights as a seven-year-old.
sleeping in my best friend's room and
shrieking with excitement
at the thunder.
