Grab your gun it's time to go to Hell, I'm no hero, guilty as charged.

Kate didn't like small towns. She wasn't a small town kind of girl, never had been. She'd spent most of her career, and life hopping between one big city and another. Chicago, New York, Montreal, everything in between was just travel time. She wasn't sure what it was about small towns that made her twitchy, maybe it was the familiarity of it all. ( Read more... )

[Dean enters the bar not shortly after, hopping on to a barstool with the ease of someone who probably spends a lot of time in them. He orders a beer with a grin and leans back, downing half the contents in one.

Looking around the bar, Dean seems to be sourcing everyone out. He finally settles on Kate, grinning at her when she looks up. He'll get round to the whole coming on to her thing but first! Beer!]

Kate's tapping her nails impatiently on the counter when the new arrival slides into the barstool next to her. She managed to firmly ignore him for a total of five minutes before he managed to catch her gaze, grinning widely. Of course, and now to fend off soe other enthusiastic local boy, it's not a new game, but it could be amusing.

She shifts in her seat, letting their eyelines mingle for a total of three seconds before turning her attention back to the last line of dark liquid in her shot glass.

[Dean drains the rest of his beer, buzzed on the night and the fact that he's alive. He orders another and gets the bartender to fill Kate's up but still doesn't move over]

The bartender slides another glass across the bar at her, and explains with a decidedly lewd wink who it's from. Kate's liking this town less and less. She swivels her stool, to face the cheeky local at the end of the bar.

"So, you can't think of a pickup line, or you're hoping that after three more of these you won't need one, which is it?"

Oh darlin', it's a fine art y'don't want to rush. [He grins, tipping his own beer in greeting]

Kate quirked an eyebrow at 'darlin', leaning one elbow on the counter.

"It's been a long day and I'm not real patient, so let's just get it over with."

[Snorting into his beer] Someone's eager.

Now that earns him a look, the kind that dares him to get cheekier, she has a gun.

"Someone's got much better things to do tonight", She threw back without hesitation.

Sipping his beer, he just seems amused. "Maybe I do too, sweetheart."

"Then it looks like you're wasting both of our time", Kate quipped, draining her glass and turned her attention back to him. There was a predatory playfulness in their banter, she liked it.

Kate snorted at his sheer cockyness, "Not a chance", she smirked. Under different circumstances...yeah, maybe, he wasn't hard on the eyes. But this was business, and she knew better.

Kate rolled her eyes and went back to her drink. She'd heard that before, and most guys who felt the need to say it weren't exactly depriving humanity's womanhood.

[Dean hums against the lip of his beer bottle, still grinning. He orders another drink and gets the bartender to give Kate one before leaning forward slightly, getting the guy behind the bar's attention. Kate can probably hear him ask a few questions about the murders round here]

Kate doesn't touch the second drink, she's going to need to be in top shape tomorrow and she doesn't want to humor this guy any more than she has to. But she can't help but overhear his conversation with the bartender, he was having a lot easier time getting info out of the locals than she had. Most of them had clammed up when she'd gotten curious about the string of brutal attacks lately.

She slid off the stool, moving over to the bartender and smiling boy over there, and slapped her fake, but exceedingly realistic badge on the counter, "US. Marshel, mind if I cut in here, boys?"
