The European Union average life expectancy works out to 78.7 years The United States avg. life expectancy is 78.06 So, there's true fact number 1 courtesy of Wikipedia
As for crime, well, here are the numbers on that-
United States- 11,877,218 total crimes comitted in the last year...and that's number one on the list
United Kingdom- 6,523,706 Germany- 6,507,394 France- 3,771,850 Italy- 2,231,550 Netherlands- 1,422,863 Sweden- 1,234,784 Belgium- 973,548 and the list goes on. this info, courtesy of Nationmaster.com
as for better education, let's just be simple and use basic literacy estimates
in this area, the U.S. is tied with 23 other countries, including most of western Europe. However, does it help make my point that the republics that comprised the Soviet Union all have higher literacy rates? This one also courtesy of Wikipedia.
As for health care, the United States is the only wealthy industrialized nation that does not offer Universal Health Care. When you couple this with the average life expectancy, I think it clearly demonstrates that health care in Europe is superior to the United States. This, to, you can find on Wikipedia.
Now, as for per-capita income, this is where my statement was in error. So, humbly, I apologize for that. However, my overall point, I feel, is validated. For someone to say that western Europe offers less and less to mankind is ignorant.

The European mentality is not the same as American mentality in regards to crime and health.
Let's start with crime. Europeans have seen war, in their countries, on their land, and defended their homes, in almost every recent generation. They have a far better concept of the consequences of violence than Americans do. They also do not glorify violence the way we do, either. It is a much more of a social intolerance than it is one of overbearing laws. Also, they are not as transient a society as we are. This makes neighborhoods far friendlier as families live in the same area/village, growing up with childhood friends, staying nearer to siblings, parents and so forth. This closeness also works to keep crime at a lower level than here, where people move often and tend not to invest time or energy into building relationships with neighbors, and are isolated from other family members.
Next, health. Europe is set up far differently than America is. In the cities they have a much more pedestrian society than we do. Buildings under 4 stories tend not to have elevators. They walk, alot. Even in the suburbs, a family will have far fewer vehicles and far more bicycles than Americans do. They do not understand the concept of driving to the corner store, they use their own body to get there and back. Also, they do not shop the same way that we do. Europeans eat fresher, healthier foods and eat smaller portions. They shop almost daily, or every other day, for their food, and they cook it at home. Dining out is an occasional event, not a 4-5 time a week staple. Again, this is not a lawfully mandated lifestyle, this is how they have been living for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
So, do not look to wikipedia to support law-driven numbers, when, in fact, societal attitudes and lifestyles are a large reason for the results you are seeing.

A) Wikipedia is not a source. B) Your numbers are too close to be meaningful. Clearly, you were just "shooting from the hip" with that, and are grasping to support a claim that you made up on the spot.
"United States- 11,877,218 total crimes comitted in the last year...and that's number one on the list"
Hmm... any European countries have the same population as the US? No? Then divide by population and get the crime rate.
And let's draw a distinction between property crimes and direct violence, shall we, and get both rates? Having your newspaper stolen is not the same as forcible rape, so using "total crime per year" is patently absurd.
"as for better education, let's just be simple and use basic literacy estimates

Again, Wikipedia is not a source. And even if your data is 100% accurate, it does not support your claim.
"As for health care, the United States is the only wealthy industrialized nation that does not offer Universal Health Care."
Which is why we have superior healthcare, compared to pretty much any other country.
"For someone to say that western Europe offers less and less to mankind is ignorant."
No. Inventing claims out of thin air and then grasping at straws to try and support them is ignorant.
I think the leading arena for neo-fascism certainly offers less to mankind than the leading opponent thereof. But maybe I'm just bigoted against fascists, or something...

If you have the same approach on the GDP, you'll see that China is one of the richest countries in the world. Who cares they have more than 1 bln people. :)
