It's probably another good skill to learn though

This morning (well, it's afternoon now I guess) I'm trying very hard to stop being pissed off at Ellen DeGeneres.

I'm doing this by learning how to take the hard drive out of my laptop.

Yeah, you heard me. I couldn't believe it either.

See, my laptop has this issue with the screen. The case is coming apart and cracking, FOR NO RAISIN. I noticed it a few months ago and tried to fix it, but to no avail. Well, no biggie, it's just a little loose. Yeah, well, a couple weeks ago the looseness began to cause cracks, so I contacted Dell who actually agreed to repair it and sent me the box to send it back to the depot.

Imagine my shock when the sheet in the box says I have to include the AC power adapter (cool), remove the battery (okay), and remove the hard drive (WHAT?!).

In a panic, I called tech support. "I just got my instructions, here, and it says I have to remove my hard drive?! I'd really rather not, I mean, I backed up all my data myself already. Like... will they refuse to service it if I send it with the hard drive still in it?!"

The lady laughed. Yes. She laughed at my panic. "No, they'll service it, but it is all your data and it's very easy to remove."

She told me how to do it. "Oh. Really? That's it? Well, that's easy!"

So now, today, as soon as I finish posting this in fact, I am going to do some laptop surgery and then send this beeotch in. I dunno about this 5-8 business days to get it back, though. My mom was puzzled. "You used to only have your desktop computer. What's so bad about using that for a week?"

"I can't lay down and use my desktop!"
