I am embarking this weekend on a quest to create one simple level of a very simple video game using Flash, which believe it or not is a pretty necessary chunk of my dissertation.
When you fail to hear from me for several days, you can assume that I am lying face down on my living room floor in a pool of my own blood, sweat, and angry, defeated tears, my computer in pieces on the sidewalk below my window.
Also, if you don't have enough people playing to cover all four parts (guitar, bass, drums and vocals), Rock Band just makes up people and sticks them in a band with you.
So far, we've played with a hippie chick, some punk girl, a homeless man (seriously I swear, Grizzly Adams beard, flannel shirt, dirty jeans... "I think he probably wandered into the club before we were gonna go on and said, 'Hey, man, I uh... you got a few bucks? I mean, I can play a little bass, so if you need somebody to fill in, I could use the cash, dude'.") and my personal favorite, a guy who looked like a cross between Rob Zombie and Gene Simmons wearing enormous black wings and some sort of complicated facial adornment.
We named him, of course, Douchebag Sanders, which has inexplicably become my favorite insulting name for someone I don't like.
And Wen and I madlibbed the creation of the Law Firm of VanderPlop & Douchebaggenson, which I can simply think about for a half-second and start giggling over.
ETA: I have managed to make a pretty ridiculously crappy looking version of Pac-Man so far.
