"I'm capsized, erring on the edge of safe"

Yesterday was fun! I went shopping in Downtown Crossing with Kelly and found some really awesome $3 books at the Brattle Book Shop, including Kafka's The Castle, a book called "Reality Check: What Your Mind Knows, But Isn't Telling You" which may or may not be pseudoscientific fluff, and another book entitled "Drugs of Choice: Current Perspectives on Drug Use" that was written in the early 80s and contains tons of interesting information and classy illustrations such as this:

Then last night I played Asshole with peeps for the first time and was pretty awesome at it, though it would've been more entertaining if I'd lost some games. :P Mango rum is yummy, though I still prefer a nice fuzzy kava buzz. Now I have too much work to do (hello, 1500 word paper on Operation Tailwind that is due on Thursday!), but if I can focus I think I can finish it today and relax tomorrow, and maybe even go see Sweeney Todd with Youme and Kelly.

I'm kind of concerned about the workload I'm going to have this semester, mainly due to my Computer Science course. The need to use basic Calculus and logarithms for some of the programming assignments terrifies me, since I barely passed Pre-Cal back in high school and even had trouble with Algebra 2. I'm not sure why I'm so terrible at math, but it makes me extremely anxious when I have trouble understanding mathematical concepts and I end up falling behind. The fact that my textbook gives complicated and vague examples and then says wonderfully condescending things like "the solution that follows is CLEARLY this" when it wasn't clear at all to me isn't helping. I might have to actually go to the professor's office hours for help, oh noes!
