I know I haven't been much of a presence on Livejournal lately--but I actually have been writing. In fact, this year's assignment for the Saiyuki AU fic challenge 7thnight_smut has just been finalized and submitted. (Even a few days before deadline, go me ( Read more... )

It should be a really good round, if the teaser examples posted so far are any indication. (Ah! I so can't wait to read about Spymaster Corbett and Captain Shaw; and the Nii-as-royalty one looks really cool, too.) :D

*GIGGLES* Oh, the irony...the Nii-as-royalty one was originally mine, before the Goddess asked if I could switch prompts! >_> and it was actually for your 2/8 prompt. *sigh* That said, Theskywasblue's 58 beat anything I could have done hollow, so I think you got the better deal!

No way! Oh, that's too funny. The teaser had seemed like a good match to the request I had submitted, so I had definitely wondered. :) ...But then theskywasblue's story really did match the prompt beautifully as well. :)

I have to tell you that I was actually intensely disappointed when your fic from the teaser didn't show up in the posting, and I'd thought somebody must have dropped out (and I'm still quite curious about the reasons for the prompt switching mid-challenge!). That said, I have an even greater appreciation for 'No Escape' now, not only in that it is a huge piece of writing and yuri *and* a much under-appreciated pairing, but also that it was completed on a shorter-than-usual time schedule. Most impressive!

I still really want to read that Nii-as-royalty fic. It looked so awesome. You could always finish it and post it to the comms as a non-challenge story. Pretty please? :D

Oh, someone did drop out of the challenge - or turned in sub-par fic - which was why A'mael and I were handed the second prompt. (Tickets to Stockholm was actually a joint project!) There was some last-minute reshuffling and whatnot, and I'd actually run through two very different ideas for the fic; both were fascinating, and both were NOVELS. -_-X And RL and health and studies all pwned me at the same time, which was why I jumped at the chance to switch to a prompt which absorbed me less.

No Escape was our first prompt, though it took us MUCH longer to finish, ironically! Tickets was written over a week, more or less, and I'm proud of it, given time and all.

*giggles* I'll definitely try to write it! I'm going to be insanely busy over the next few months, but trust me, that fic keeps bouncing in my brain. >_< Except Hakkai insists on turning into Tenpou, and that makes me go *grr*

Goodness! That does seem like quite a shuffling! I'm embarrassed to say that I still am only about halfway through the stories for the challenge so far. The sheer volume was phenomenal, and RL hasn't been kind the last few weeks. :( 'Tickets' is one of the next ones on my reading list, tho! :)

*Cheers!* Heh. I can understand the advantages of switching at that point, however--esp. with RL conspiring against writing.

I'm really not surprised to hear that, actually. Seems like the story must have been a real challenge, with the particular personalities, the depth of the setting, and having to balance the overall tone of the story.
