Tonight the boy and I decided on an adventure. We would check out our local pubs. First we stopped at the Royal Exchange in Marrickville.

Verdict. Sterile boring and with watered down beer.

Next up was the Earlwood Hotel. Not much to look at from the outside, and the front bar was intimidating, but the back room was just lovely. Very old fashioned pub. The kind I grew up in. A fireplace and old pool tabes. Captain Morgan rum on the top shelf, Well priced tasty beers. Not fancy, not pretty. A PUB. It made me happy. The kind of pub you can spend all afternon in playing pool and putting bad music onn the juke box in. It really reminded me of the dodgy pubs my Da taught me to play pool in when I could hardly see over the table.

So we collected some food and headed home before we got too trashy to drive, but I want to organise an afternoon there soon. Drinking too much, playing bad pool, singing along to bad songs on the juke box and scaring the locals. It must be done.
