Why I like them: Because she's the wisest person in Camelot by a long shot; because she understands what it is to love, and to love unconditionally; because she is not afraid to speak her mind; because she serves out of love; because she can always see the big picture and consistently puts others ahead of herself. Basically, she is everything a Queen should be, and everything I aspire to be. Why I don’t: uh...well, there was that one time she made Arthur sad in Lancelot & Guinevere, but given the extreme amount of times he has made her sad, we'll call it a wash. Nope, no reasons not to like Guinevere. Favorite episode: Not sure, she's so consistently awesome, but at this moment, I would say The Castle of Fyrien, which is full of wonderful personal stuff for her, both with the introduction of Elyan and her relationship with Arthur. Favorite scene: Telling off the Council in the season four opener (or was it the second episode?). It showed all the qualities that are going to make her a great queen: her wisdom, her maturity, her humility and pride (yes, they walk hand-in-hand with Gwen), and her deep-rooted love for people. Favorite line: “You shouldn't need to be told to think of someone other than yourself, you're not a child!” Feisty!Gwen is Favorite!Gwen Favorite outfit: The white dress with the peach bodice that she wore throughout much of series 3. I was not a fan of the series 4 dresses at all, and she better get a wardrobe to rival series 1 Morgana's now that she's the Queen. OTP: ARTHUR/GWEN, No substitutions, exchanges, or refunds Brotp: I loved Morgana & Gwen's friendship in the early seasons, but that, like most of Morgana's relationships, just makes me want to weep now. So I'll say Merlin/Gwen, because nothing's better than the two of them teaming up. Head Canon: Gwen's mother died when she was still quite young, old enough to remember her mother fondly and have been taught how to maintain a household, young enough that the burden for caring for her father and brother fell on her shoulders at too young an age. It was her mother's idea to name her Guinevere; her father first called her Gwen, because he said the name was too big for her. She grows into it.
She learned how to read and write, much history and some science from sitting in on Morgana's lessons. Gwen cared more for them than Morgana ever did. Gwen also picked up more of court manners than she would ever admit to knowing.
Even caring for Uther for months, Gwen never forgot what he did to her, her father or his own children. She just overlooked it for Arthur's sake. But she didn't grieve when Uther died, and she thought the people standing outside with candles were mostly hypocrites.
Though Morgana was once her friend, Gwen has an easier time letting go of her than either Merlin or Arthur. She has no guilt in her memories of things she has done, so it makes it even more inexplicable that Morgana could turn against her, as she has. Plus, Morgana has targeted the people Gwen loves most, with motives the most impure, and practices Gwen finds despicable. Knowing her better than Arthur and Merlin, Gwen doesn't find it as much a departure from who Morgana used to be as they would like to believe.
