TV

Veronica/Duncan, Veronica Mars

Pretty much no one in the world ships them. leobrat, Kristen Bell and I probably make up about a third of the entire fanbase. I still do not understand this.

I love that they are each other’s first loves, innocent and true, and then that gets screwed up beyond belief. I mean, he thought she was his *sister*, and he still loved her, and it nearly drove him insane. I love that through all their time apart they never stopped caring about each other, and that when they were together, they were just…happy. I love that episode where they go sleuthing together to find out about Meg’s sister, because it showed how good of a partner he was for her. I love looking at them dance, all lost in this happy bubble that they both completely deserve.

I love everything ever about the episode “Donut Run.” That Veronica was willing to lie to her father, her friends, even to commit FELONIES to help Duncan save his daughter-even though that daughter was the child of another woman, and even though it meant she might never see him again. I love the fortune cookie. I adore the scene in the series finale when Veronica looks up at the painting of Duncan in his dad’s house, and you can see written all over her face the fact that she still loves him. I firmly believe that Veronica’s “first and only” from the pilot still applies at the end of the series, despite her complicated relationship with Logan and her fling with Piz. And I believe Duncan’s “always have, always will.” Basically, if any ship on Veronica Mars is going to be labeled “epic,” it should be them.

Fanfic Rec: Force of Nature by leobrat
Summary: It's the most natural thing in the world...
(So I became leobrat’s friend courtesy of our shared love of this couple, which we’ve since found extends to several other-mostly doomed-couples. But an extra bonus? She’s pretty much the only person who still writes fic for them. YAY!)

Movies

Peter/Juliet, Love Actually

Again, leobrat comes into this. I hadn’t actually thought of a movie answer for this day, but we were discussing Love Actually the day I picked Sam/Joanna, and our shared love of these two, so I added them to my list, because apparently the rest of the world is stupid and does not love them.

I love them because they're so cozy and comfortable with each other. Because their faces light up as she's walking down the aisle. I love them because they have a *real* relationship. I love their wedding, I love them all homebodies together on the couch.

I could go into why I hate Mark (namely, STALKER), but this is not about being anti-anything. This is just about the fact that they are adorable and make me happy.

Books

Moshe/Ellie, The Zion Chronicles by Bodie Thoene

So it seems a little silly to call this a pair no one else understands, when I’m sure no one else on my flist has even read these books. But neither my grandmother nor my mother understood why I shipped them, and Bodie Thoene certainly didn’t mean me to, so they count.

The Zion Chronicles is Thoene’s series about the foundation of the modern state of Israel. They contain some of the same characters as in the Zion Covenant, but were written first, though they take place after. Ellie Warne is an American photojournalist, living in Palestine with her archaeologist uncle Howard. Moshe Sachar is Howard’s associate and friend, a professor of archaeology at Hebrew University, who has a secret life as a refugee smuggler for the Haganah. Though Ellie and Moshe are hovering around romance at the start of the series, they both end up falling in love with and marrying other people.

But I liked neither of the main pairings of the series. Moshe/Rachel make me want to gag with their saccharine sweetness, while I just generally can’t stand Ellie’s boyfriend/husband David. But the roots of Moshe/Ellie, their ability to laugh at and learn from each other, make me ridiculously happy. And then miserable when Thoene takes it all away.

Day 22 - A pairing you hate and no one else understands why?
Day 23 - A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out great?
Day 24 - A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out badly?
Day 25 - A pairing that was/would-be adorable, but could never work out?
Day 26 - A pairing that you hated and ended up loving?
Day 27 - A pairing that you loved and ended up hating?
Day 28 - A pairing that you will never understand?
Day 29 - What ship had the best proposal?
Day 30 - Your favorite ship forever and ever and ever?
