Yes, she does. I'm constantly checking for updates.
"A Voice in the Wind" is the first in a trilogy called "Mark of the Lion" that is set in the first century Roman Empire. It's probably my favorite series from the last twenty years (and, yes, I include Harry Potter in that, which is saying something). Its central characters are a rich Roman-Grecian merchant family--controlling father Decimus; loving mother Phoebe; arrogant, brilliant (handsome, of course) son Marcus; rebellious, headstrong daughter Julia--and their encounters with a Jewish-Christian slavegirl Hadassah, and a German gladiator Atretes.
It is this huge, sweeping historical saga, of the kind we rarely see anymore, and it's gorgeously written. I recommend it to everyone; my mother finally read it last month, after I've been telling her to for years, and now she can't stop talking about it.
The "Once and Future Queen" episode is sixteen different kinds of awesome, and I ship Arthur/Gwen hard. I've seen the famous first kiss scene eleventy gazillion times (and that's only a mild exaggeration). I love Merlin because it's cracky and pretty, and somehow, in the middle of all that nonsense, it's actually quite touching.
I'm sort of on the fence about Morgana/Merlin. I definitely see the potential, but...omg, spoilers. I'll let you watch through the end of S2 before I opine on it.
I like Gaius, although his selling out magical people does seem a bit...er, self-serving. I'm also one of those people who has some sympathy for Uther's purge of all things magical. Yes, he's overbearing, and franly, quite wrong about the evils of magic. But aside from Merlin himself, is there any magical person on the show who isn't out to destroy Uther, Arthur and all of Camelot? It's hard not to see Uther's point of view, lol.
