A New Knight

Something tugged impudently at his whiskers. Something that wasn't afraid of angering a sleeping snow leopard. Only when the tugging became more forceful did he open an eye. It was one of the pixies, and it threw him a stubborn look.

"About time, lazybones!" To anyone but the Fae, the sounds the pixie was making would've resembled someone tapping on dried bamboo shoots. But Sagar understood him perfectly. "I've found you a new Knight!"

Now, both eyes opened to regard the small being fluttering only inches from his nose. Though androgynous and not wearing anything in the way of clothing, it still favored autumnal colors from the coppery mop of hair atop its head to the dark green and gold of its wings to the tawny hue of its skin.

"I'm retired," the cat grumbled and rolled onto his side. That earned him a swift kick to the end of his nose, and he yowled. "This had better be good."

Appeased, the pixie sat down cross-legged in front of one of Sagar's paws and started telling him of a woman with raven hair that had made it her own personal mission to free all the enslaved pixies. Most of the story was aggrandized to an extreme, but Sagar caught the gist of it. Even if only a quarter of what the pixie was saying was true, he'd be a fool not to at least see the woman for himself. And Sagar was definitely no fool.
