Well let's start out with IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEE!!!
Amit, I'm really sorry, from the bottom of my heart I missed your party. But, I couldn't miss this concert, no matter what Jackie tried to pull to make me feel bad, you're one of my best friends, but this is a once in a lifetime event of an artist and I couldn't miss the oppurtunity to see it. So let me tell you a little about it.
People always ask me why I listen to the crap known as Porcupine Tree... and I often wonder why they listen to the crap known as Britney Spears and whatnot. Well, I will tell you now. Don't bother to read this if you're just going to blurt out something incredibly stupid like "Well the band I like is much better because I say so and, I'm much better than you." yah you do say so. But do I really care if you say so, does that suddenly mean it's a fact? There's opinions in the world you morons, get used to the fact you can't always be right and not everyone's exactly the same. Get used to the fact your precious Briteny Spears isn't anything but a Barbie Doll who lip sinks. Don't bother cursing me out, because I'll just delete the comments. This is my opinion, and Britney Spears isn't art at all, she's a pretty girl the media made, a monster, A MONSTER! ok anywho.
Words cannot explain the Porcupine Tree concert. It's unexplainable, words cannot form the beauty and pure talent I saw! It was the most amazing thing I have EVER seen. It isn't just rock and roll, emo, screaming, hot guys, girls with fake boobs and "talent"! No, not at all! I mean, singing along to every song, I was crying, that's how deep it is. It's from the soul, everything Porcupine Tree does is right from their heart and soul, and it just rips right through you, you listen and you are just amazed. Steven Wilson was INCREDIBLE! You cannot SEE his hands while he plays, he does it so fast, and the way he can change the beat and rhythm so fast, I just can't explain. The drummer was by far the BEST I EVER witnessed.
Let me explain something. Linkin Park, Britney Spears, whatever, they can't hold a candle next to Porcupine Tree. Anyone who can sit through this concert and not feel anything at the end must be mentally retarded, because this is ART. This isn't just a bunch of punk guys and hot girls singing about love and drugs and suicide. This is all about the music, nothing to do with specail effects, makeup or clothes (though the visual movies they had in back of them were incredible and scary) This is TRUE art, an abstract feeling, it's the EMOTION they put into their music, it isn't the media, it isn't about the fame, it isn't about anything but the music and the soul. And that's what I ADORE about Porcupine Tree. The media doesn't run them, they aren't anything but people, just people. Steven Wilson goes into pubs and talks with people after every concert. He is a normal guy, he goes to sleep, wakes up in the morning, eats, gets dressed, brushes his teeth, everything like you and me! There's nothing much to him except that he's a musical genius, and he truly shows that. Not some rich hotsy totsy guym and we all think "wow, they're more specail than me". Having no privacy isn't very specail to me. Also, He picks small venues to get personal with the audiance. I LOVE That, I LOVE how the band is not something the media has made, not just our idols and some prettyboy/girl talent. This is art, not mass media, art. And I can explain no further. It is just mind numbing. It's like, you go to a concert and you see the band do the same old songs blah blah blah, just this and that and screaming and running around stage with the emo, punk, teenage rebelion! It's what I listened to, I actually did until I found these guys, and they just inspired me. I don't need these robot bands. I need a true artist.
The highlights of the night were Halo, Even Less, and Lazarus. Even Less and Lazarus were just beautiful, you were sucked into the song and Steven just put all his aggression and emotion into it and you could feel it. And Halo was just awesome! You just have to pay attention to the words, it's just one hell of an incredible song. He is definitly a genius. Personally, I think it's stupid how such talent, art and beauty can be thrown below rubish like Britney Spears. But 'nuff said! The point is, the concert was the best I've heard and was the most amazing thing I've ever witnessed. I'm going to be sure to go to every one of them when they come back to L.A. Good night all!
