I just have to say

I am so tired of all of this bullshit hype about Thomas Beattie and how he is messing everything up for trans men.  For the record, he is not the first trans man to do so.  I don't know if he brought this media circus on himself or not, but I do know that he is not the first trans man to get pregnant.  In any case, now all kinds of people are all kinds of upset for all kinds of different reasons.  It seems to boil down to someone or another being pissed off and saying Thomas is not a man because men can't get pregnant and this is offensive to me because of (insert reason here).

This is all over the FtM communities I frequent, and I'm seriously considering just leaving for awhile because I'm tired of hearing about this.  I'm much more concerned about the fact that the state gets to A) demand one or the other binary genders on my identification and B) decide which of those two genders I fit into.  I think those two things are ridiculous and the fact that a pregnant trans man might make the states try to regulate my gender more is a product of an equally ridiculous power dynamic and gender binary and not due to some trans guy who got pregnant.

I don't really know or care if being pregnant makes him less of a man.  It's not my body and not my life and therefore not my decision.  If the trans community would harness all the energy that's being put toward hating this guy and target the real sources of our oppression, maybe we would actually get somewhere.
