"Say the words..."

There's something so wonderful about someone telling you that they love you. I know that seems like the understatement of the decade, but bear with me.
There are so many people that one loves: parents, other family members, friends, possibly significant others; it's interesting how often we don't say anything to them to let them know how important they are to us.
I've worked on getting better at this: at taking a look at the people around me, at seeing how much I care about these who are close to me, and letting them know how much they mean to me.
And generally, if I tell someone that I love them or that they mean a lot to me they will generally reply in kind.
But I cannot but wonder sometimes if it's purely an obligatory answer; if they're repeating back to me what I said because they want to be polite.
And that is why when someone says they love you, if they said it first without any cue from you, it is so wonderful! Everyone wants to know that they're appreciated, and it's all the better if one knows that the person speaking to them is being completely genuine.
It's a beautiful thing and a wonderful feeling to have someone tell you they love you first.
I challenge whoever may be reading this to think about the people around you. Who do you love? Who do you appreciate? Tell them so!
