Mom has good sound advice. :)

I was chatting with Mom yesterday and I didn't even tell her what I blogged about when she said this stuff! I was talking about how I wasn't sure if I wanted to go for a certain job because it might take me away a lot, and I want to be around to help Hosanna as her maid of honor. Mom said that I have this tendency to go to the extremes to help people, and in doing so I put my own life on hold. She said that she's noticed that there've been several times where it seemed I might be about to launch off to start my life, but then I'll allow something minor to distract me and pull me off my track.
Then she said this, which seems a direct reply to my previous blog when she hadn't even read it!

Mom: "When you sacrifice to the extreme, you want appreciation to the extreme. Then when you don't get that you end up feeling hurt and embittered, and you've missed out on your dreams."

That's good stuff right there.
She went on to say this:

Mom: "People don't want to feel responsible for your life, for the mistakes you make. [If they were the ones you sacrificed for which caused you to miss out on opportunities and life in general.] And those who do want to feel responsible, watch out for them. If you let other people be responsible for your life, you're putting them in the place of God. Don't let anyone take the place of God!"
