So the other day I got mail from this CD-ordering thing I'm subscribed to. In it, it said that if I switch to a paperless membership (online membership) I get three free CDs (plus shipping.) So I decided to go for it, especially since I hardly ever order from them anymore. So I'm getting "Born" by Bond, "R.I.O.T." by Carman (want to talk about a blast from the past...) and "A Collision" by the David Crowder Band. So I guess that leaves my wish list with the Phil Keaggy CD and iTunes gift cards. :)
Okay! so yesterday I dropped my sister off at school and went to Fred Meyers east to pick some milk on my way home. As I was heading out the door after having got the milk, I looked over at the Starbucks area and saw two ladies sitting at one of the tables. I looked at the one who was more facing me, and then just stared at her thinking, "I swear, that looks like Debbie Williams...." the mom of Renee, Andrea, and Shannon Williams, three of my really good friends in Anchorage. I was just about to dismiss this possibility as impossible when I looked at the girl sitting with her. It was Andrea!!! I couldn't believe it. "Andrea?!" I said, astonished and incredulous. "Katrina!" she cried and came over to give me hug. I looked at her for a long time trying to decide whether I was awake or not. (I had only just woken up after all, and I've been having fairly realistic dreams lately.) She assured me I was not dreaming. I was overjoyed to see her as it's been a couple years since I have. Usually I go see Shani or Renee, since Andrea's usually busy or away.
I wished we had a deck of cards at that moment. Andrea and I used to have such a blast playing cards together! She echoed my sentiment, and when I told Mom all about this later she laughed and said, "Hmm, you're in Fred Meyers, I wonder where on earth you can get a deck of cards..." I had to laugh because that's a very valid point.
Andrea and I got to talk for quite a while, but she was only up that one day. They had just driven in that morning and were up only to attend a funeral and turn right around to go home. That's why she didn't call me up or anything, but I do remember her mentioning in one of her emails that they were going to come up only for a funeral.
She pulled out her digital camera and got a picture of us which she'll post on MySpace for me. After a while, they had to go, but luckily not until after Andrea and I had a chance to catch up for a while. We had a lovely chat. I promised her I'd look her up the next time I'm in Anchorage, and we parted ways. I was elated from having seen my old friend! I'm still very happy thinking about it now, but it absolutely made my day yesterday!
