So, you might enjoy this...
I was in the SRC for Ballroom Dance class this morning, and I'd arrived a little early. I was looking over the balcony at the rest of the room and I noticed that the floor was completely open. Usually there are curtains partitioning it of but today the curtains were put away and there was no one there (except for one lone athlete jump-roping in the far corner.)
Well, there are these large inflated rubber spheres that look very much like large translucent Four-Square balls, only much softer. I immediately put two-and-two together and decided that it'd be fun to toss one of the largest stretch balls off the balcony onto the waiting, open floor. (In my defense, it did ponder the matter for a while before acting.)
I did enjoy its bounce, though it didn't go far (since I was too afraid to actually throw it.) I went downstairs to retrieve it and heard a stern, irritated voice behind me, demanding to know why I did that and what class I was there for. It was one of the door guards, an angry lady that looked offended and irate because of my glee. Shoot.
She told me off (though briefly) and then proceeded to tell my teacher, Matt, off. (Sorry, Matt!) I totally didn't think about the possibility of Matt getting in trouble for it.
I also didn't think it'd be this big of a deal.
But apparently there are liability concerns what with bouncing large soft balls off the balcony. (One thing I take comfort in: I apparently wasn't the first to pull this stunt.)
Without many words I was ostracized for the day. Out of the SRC for me, and no Salsa. Rats.
I didn't feel quite as shamed as I should have; I was more disappointed about missing class and a little miffed that the guard was so uptight.
I guess I should have gone with my original mature thought that it'd be childish of me to toss the ball. I kind of miss those kid days, though, and I can't help but think that I'd have gone all day wondering just what it would have been like to toss the ball.
I know now...
