Seiran wiggles her toes in a low wave as other residents play around her. It tries to pull her in, but she's not for delving farther. She didn't feel like swimming today.
Suddenly there's a rapid splashing just ahead. A foot sticks up in the air, and she rushes in to grab it before the surf drags it back.
“Hey! Quit- Kicking- I've got-”
She steps back when the foot kicks her in the stomach, leaving her grappling a hold of a torso and flopping back on the beach holding a. Marik.
A tiny girl Marik. In a pink swimsuit.
Upside down.
“Let go of me---”
She gets her knee punched and she falls back in the sand, just to stare up into a little angry face.
“What are you doing grabbing me like that?!”
“Ah. Sorry. I thought-”
“I was doing just fine!”
She doesn't remember judging anything not fine, but she watches dazed (still on her back) as the girl - red-faced - scrambles back into water. She, should stop her, right? But she just sits up, watching the head bob up now and then. And then not. In we go again.
“I said I was fine!”
“Just don't punch me again.”
“What?”
“N-nothing. Here.” By the time she's got the she-Ishtar, still struggling, to her towel, what she thought up is there and she spends a good four minutes talking the girl into putting them on.
“What are they?”
“Water wings - just wear them.”
“I'm not going to just because you say so!”
“If you do I'll stop coming after you.”
The next five minutes are calmer, as she gets back to toe-wiggling and watches from the edge. Until, the head's gone again. How did- Did the wings slip off? Doesn't matter, she's diving into the water again in seconds. Only there's no quick find of a girl this time. She shuffles under the waves until her lungs near give out. When she comes up she doesn't hear the yelling until she's done gasping for air.
“You lied!”
She turns around and blinks back water at the accusing yell. She's standing by her towel, glaring over her. Seiran calls back.
“...what are you-!”
“You said you wouldn't come after me! What kind of liar are you?!”
Seiran watches her run off towards a candy stand, left with her unwanted swim and questions of what just happened.
Name
She's walking back getting takeout when the same girl runs into her side, taking off again with a quick yell of a sorry. It's not until she gets back to her apartment and takes off her coat she notices her belt holster is gone. Twenty minutes and a near heart-attack later, she finds her sitting in the cafe, her entire deck spread out on the table.
“Hey!”
The girl's head lifts up, but if she thought frowning would do anything, Seiran's in trouble. She's glaring twice as harsh back.
“Why do you have this?”
Osiris just got thrust under her nose. Not long enough for her to grab it back, though.
“This is from a tablet my family guards!”
“Yup.” She has maybe a two second opening to get in before she starts interrogating again. “But this is still different - a card from a game. The card's just based on the tablet.”
Given that tablet is supposed to be secret, she's not surprised at the suspicious frown. Or interrogation.
“What's it called?”
“Tell you what- I'll show you the game and you can see for yourself. If you give me back that card.”
She considers for a moment, and Seiran strives to look patient instead of desperate. Eventually her offer wins out though, and she has the God Card back.
“So what is it. Tell me.”
She ignores the order long enough to tuck it away and start on the rest of the cards before smiling up at the intent face.
“I thought I was showing you.”
Distracting her with holograms proved successful.
