The Land Down Under - Catching up on Day 5

May 17, 2005 17:16

Well the time got away from me here once the weekend hit - hence the time away from the 'puter. First off, after my so-so sushi encounter, I was able to discover the fine cuisine of Yum Cha. For those in the states, Yum Cha is equivalent to Dim Sum. The quality of Yum Cha made up for the sushi experience in spades. It defintely put the YUM in Yum Cha.

Note - my apologies for earlier posts where I did not optimize the photos. They now load much faster. Cheers.

Day 5 was about hanging out in some of the neighborhoods where you might not see a lot of tourists. But to get there, I took a ferry from Darling Harbour (pronounced Dahleeng Hahbah) to Watsons Bay. A few photos along the way.

This shape seems to pop up everywhere :-)

This is a very quaint seaside amuzement park on the northshore. The rides were not going but they keep it lit up at night since it sits under the bridge and is in full view from Circular Quay.

must. . . take. . . more. . . pics. . . . (stretching arm out for camera)

And finally my destination at Watsons Bay - a lovely seaside village with calming overtones and scenic beauty.

And I stumbled upon a few Ents while there, travelling from New Zealand, of course :-)

After docking at the ferry launch, you can take this incredible little nature walk to the top of the hill to gaze upon the Tasman Sea. you can take this walk all the way to the South head. The seas were amazingly rough due to the winds and the passing storms off shore.
