well, i know all seven or eight of you that regularly read LJ are eagerly awaiting an update from me. (on that note, i am considering cleaning up my act somewhat and opening my journal to the public again, if only to feel that my blog has more of a purpose. of course, the people that do read this are friends i truly want to keep in touch with, so i don't mean to slam you guys. )
i've spent the last two weeks at camp, where there has been an astounding number of bedwetters (and pants-pooers!), rain, people running around half-naked, and other general good times.
i took a break in between weeks to briefly visit my parents in duluth, who have purchased a large, flat-screen HD tv. they are quite astounded that this means even with basic they get 4 different versions of public television. this is just another episode in the never-ending saga of "I Left The House And Then My Parents Started Getting All This Cool Stuff." so i saw my parents off to the airport so they could fly off and see all of northern europe in 10 days. i then went back to the house and took advantage of free beer and a bubbly bathtub; two things, i learned, that should probably not be enjoyed at the same time.
back at camp i helped children learn and grow, took a couple day trips down the namekagon river and along the shore and into sea caves in the apostles. and despite all this adventuring, i came away relatively unharmed until the children went home, and it was time to do some cleaning. while i was cleaning the windows on the outside of my cabin, the chair i was standing on decided it was unstable and tipped me over in a particularly roughshod fashion. i now have a spectacular bruise-abraision combo running the length of my right arm as a souvenir. photo documentation of the bruise's evolution shall be posted to facebook.
today, i rode my bike to work, so i could get some stuff done before the real workday starts tomorrow because i am just that dedicated. i had a friend reverse the handles on my bike so that essentially my road bike turned into a cruiser. however, the new center of balance threw me off a bit and i totally bought it in front of a gas station that happened to have about 500 people standing around at the time. my tumble resulted in a bloody knee, so along with my arm, plus all the little scratches and bruises that come with being at camp, i now look worse than any of the seasons in which i played rugby.
