Summary: Ryan’s pov musing on Theresa, Marissa, Taylor

A/N Waves to brandywine421 whom I suspect inspired this with her own musings, hive mind, cariad, swear! Also, this was a 30 min ish fic and from your prompting, although not at actual prompt.

Theresa

Ryan could easily recall the first time he saw Theresa. It was one of his clearest, earliest memories. He’d been setting off for his first day in his new grade school after the move from Fresno with his mom and Trey. Trey was angry - nothing new there - he figured he was old enough to take himself and Ryan. He’d smart mouthed their mom, saying they didn’t need her, that it’d him taking Ryan every other day, so why not start the way she meant to go on? It was a good thing Trey was quick, else he’d have started their new school with a reddened cheek. Ryan was glad their mom was going. She’d promised a new start. Why couldn’t Trey see that she was trying?

Anyways, as they started off down the side-walk, the family next door came out too. The mom said ‘hi’. She looked nice, a smiley lady with curly black hair. There was a boy who eyed up Trey. Trey looked at the other kid. Ryan didn’t quite get it, but then the older boys nodded at each other and then ran on ahead. The next door lady called after her kid in Spanish. He didn’t look back. Ryan’s mom didn’t bother calling after Trey.

As the rest of them started to walk, Ryan got his first good look at the little girl. She had big brown eyes, black pigtails. Her face was really clean. She had a big smile, friendly just like her mom’s. She was wearing a red dress and had a book bag and an apple. Ryan knew that he wasn’t supposed to make friends with girls. Trey had told him that would make him a wuss, but looking at her, Ryan began to think that maybe Trey didn’t know everything after all. 300

Marissa

The first time Ryan saw Marissa was seared forever into his memory, as if by a burning brand.

He was lost, uncertain, adrift. He had no idea what direction his life was going to take. He’d been scared as hell in juvie, terrified that was going to be his life, but then his mom had come through - or so he’d thought. He’d been frightened by A.J.’s fists although he’d have been damned rather than let the bastard see it. He’d been let down by every friend that he’d thought he had in Chino, left unwanted, homeless.

He had no clue why Mr. Cohen had helped him, or why Mrs. Cohen had agreed to let him stay. He had no frame of reference for either act. They made no sense. While he was trying to get his head around it all, Marissa had appeared, all huge eyes and fly away hair, beautiful. Carefully dressed to make an impression. When she’d spoken, her voice had been a little shy, then honey’d, , then buying in to a happy fantasy.

There’d been something ethereal, other worldly about her. But she was hot. She was a mass of contradictions. He’d been hopelessly attracted to her.

Taylor

Ryan had no clue when he’d first seen Taylor. Maybe he had vague memories of a smart chick his first year at Harbor. A girl whose hand was constantly up, who always knew the answers, but she was faceless, hadn’t registered, triggered a response, been worth his notice. He regretted that now.

He remembered her from the start of Senior year. She hadn’t made a great impression.

When she came back from France, she’d driven him crazy.

He loved her.

She was the mother of his children. His best friend.

He could describe every detail of her body - seared into his memory.
