Remember the talk they had in the hall?
Him being unsure about the whole private school thing and how different it was to his old school where you "just showed up". And not believing that he might be "an ivy league kind of guy". But he obviously made an effort to write a good essay which impressed Dr. Kim and followed Kirsten's lead to fight for his right to go to Harbor. (Even if he was also easily willing to give it up for M.'s crisis)
It's like once she made the decision that Ryan would stay with them she would not make things half-heartedly. She basically started so right from the beginning. Being in charge on things she feld confident about like buying him stuff and making clear that as a member of the family he would also have to take part in things like Cotillion and once the summer ended going to the right school. And for the Cohen family that means Harbot, not some public school like Newport Union.
She might be uncomfortable talking about Ryan's history and all that, but these are things of everyday life in Newport. So Kirsten knows how to deal with that. And as the tough business woman she is someone like Dr. Kim would not scare her.

Yes, I cheated and read a transcript. I did wonder about having her read his essay, but decided against it.

It's like once she made the decision that Ryan would stay with them she would not make things half-heartedly. good point. I forgot about Cotillion, it's the one ep, I don't have, so it slips my mind.

I like strong Kirsten.
