So Jinny became a Gamma Phi Beta a few days ago. Tonight she, her fellow new sisters, and the older sisters were all going to the Keg in evanston. While I had never been, this is a popular hangout for loyola academy second semester seniors, northwestern university students, and the like. Anyway, I had HEARD about the keg but had never been. For an 18+ bar, and probably the only or one of few 18+ bars in the Chicago area, it's decent. Anyway, I picked Tommy up at 11, and we headed over. We got there and Smerch was sposed to meet us but we forgot to call him when we left. So we called him and told him to meet up with us. We waited in line outside for a few minutes in the freeeeeezing cold (so it felt like forever). When we finally got in I got totally ripped off on cover, but the idiots gave me a wristband even though I clearly showed them an 18yo ID. HA, my gain, their loss.
So not even 15 feet in the door, I see Karla Wei, a friend from gradeschool who I hadn't seen for a good 3 years. Natural reaction was to go crazy. So we did, we went crazy. We reminisced for a bit. Tommy grabbed a brew and we found Jinny on the dancefloor. She's so cute, she was totally blasted, shes all, "I WAS JUST ON THE POLE!" Awww. My lil girl is growin up!
Jinny showed me the 'coat pile'. Ha. Then we danced. Then I needed money so me and Tommy went to look for an ATM. We saw Nicole Netzel by the bathrooms. She was trashed. We talked. Then we saw Matt Marks and Pat Thompson. It was a full scale OLPH reunion. Then I went and finally found the ATM. Me tom and jinny took a couple quick picks, then I bought a brew. Chilled around by the door waiting for Smerch. Went to the window to look for Smerch. Went and danced with Jinny while Tommy waited for Smerch. Waited by the door for Smerch while Tommy went to the bathroom. Tommy came back, Smerch wasn't coming. Karen Zaransky, Brian ficho, kevin doyle, people i hate, et al came in. Went and danced some more, finished my beer. It was finally about 1 am and the Gamma Phi's had to get home. So we started heading out. Too bad we saw Nicole Netzel again flanked this time by Marika and Katie Kelly. Wow, reallly rreallllly didn't expect to see them. But I LOVE them so it really made my night. I was like, I don't know, really happy.
ANYWAY, Me, Tommy, Jinny, and Jinny's friend finally left. We walked the block to my car, blasted Shawnna - RPM and tooled through Evanston. As we dropped Jinny's friend off halfway up the Northwestern campus, we saw 4 more Gamma Phis, 2 more dorm stops later, Me, Tommy, and Jinny finally show up at 600 Lincoln, Jinny's dorm. Me and Tommy had to piss like you wouldn't believe. So we went in and did our business, said our goodbyes to Jinny and were on our way again. Oh but the night doesn't stop there. Now me and Tommy are hungry. How bout some Burger King? CLOSED. Taco Bell? CLOSED. Steak and Shake (glenview) CLOSED? Wendy's CLOSED. Steak and Shake Randhurst is where it's at. Best part of the night came on the way back from steak and shake. We're on Euclid in Arlington Heights toolin back to Glenview and Phish - Mexican Cousin pops up on the iPod shuffle. o MAN! We were like two drunken irishmen singin the songs of the homeland on bar stools next to eachother. it was worth a laugh. ah, i love my friends.
