Update on 2008 stuff:

- studying furiously for the exam all workers in the government have to take

- stock markets crashed hard all the way through January. It's been the most miserable month for world financial markets since September 2001... if Americans don't unleash their mighty consumer power pretty soon we're all screwed. C'mon... that iPhone looks so smooth and elegant... you know you want it! *pokes*

- November through January has been... interesting. Met lots of new people and I've enjoyed it for a change.

- Canada will more than likely have to be postponed from April/May to August/September. I still haven't given up on April but it's not really up to me. At least I'll have some more money to spend in September, but...

- ... will I? The government has informed me they can only guarantee extending my contract until May when the woman I originally replaced comes back (she was - as a friend of mine would say - a human incubator for 9 months. :)) Apparently there are fixed number of jobs in a closed up institution like the government and they can't make one up. This also means the exam I'm studying furiously for would be a total waste of time (but not cause I need to have it by Feb if I want to keep the job till May anyway. But come on... three friggin' months?? And there's another thing. They're canceling the exam in March. Weeeee! Ain't it just great to be me? :P

- However. It might be a good thing. I'll have a year's experience. And if I lose my job I'll have more motivation to look for my Canadian options, especially the embassy in Ottawa. And even if that takes some time, I'm sure I wouldn't have problems finding a job here after having worked for the government for a year. Maybe it's really what I need. A kick in the ass to get me out of this lethargic mood I'm in. Per aspera, ad astra!
