Today was clinic day!
So, another fortnight has gone by. Mr Calder has had a haircut.
Anyway, he said, and I quote, "You're sailing through this!" He's very very pleased with the fact that the bone has travelled 36 millimetres and even said that if I wanted to not do turning one day (if it was really painful) then I could, which is pretty amazing really. The bone is leaving a nice amount of cells as it goes through and the opacity is improving which means it's growing, yay! He changed seven struts over, six from small to medium and one from long to medium.
Mr Calder says he'd like to do a bone graft early in December, after the turning has finished (scheduled finish date is December 7th) so I'm estimating that operation for December 9th, 13th or 16th (his surgery days are Monday and Thursday) and to be in hospital again for a couple of days or so. I'd expect he'll decide for definite next clinic. Then the frame will stay on for a while until April or May when he will take it off (another operation) and I will have a cast instead which will feel like having a feather on my leg in comparison.
That's a couple of months quicker than I was expecting it to come off, and it's possible that by my birthday at the end of May I won't have the leg meccano on anymore.
I've done a couple of diagrams because I realised I've been talking all this technical stuff and it's a possibility that no one knows what I'm talking about (click on photos if you are having viewing issues).
Does that help? If you have any questions, just ask.
