Let me just say life rules too-- i know the rest of you probably know that but I guess i should make it clear that i recognize it as well.
I sang karaoke the other night-- Or should i say i ROCKED karaoke?! Meatloaf- "I'd do anything for love (but I won't do that)". Sang with much drama and with many, many theatrical hand gestures. I started with the mic in the stand, but when the drums kicked in, I tore it from the stand, and started the show. AND THEN- just when the audience thought they knew what was in store, the female lead starts, and meg runs up to sing it. So we sang the song to each other, faces inches apart. It was awesome.
Also, "Darjeeling Limited" was great-- i don't care what anyone says. It was certainly one of the more heartfelt of Wes Anderson's films if you ask me. "Gone baby Gone" was surprisingly good as well, a real portrait of Boston's locals as only someone from the area could really convey.
And as for "No Country for Old Men"-- well, good god, just see it!! Seriously-- the best movie I've seen this year. Joel and Ethan Coen have pretty much perfected their craft with this movie. It's all the elements that made "Raising Arizona" and "Fargo" so separately mesmerizing, but combined and punched up to the next level. The film is incredibly well shot and acted, and completely de-constructs what we've become accustomed to in terms of a heroic arc and narrative. It makes me excited about movies again.
Speaking of which, how about that new trailer for "There Will Be Blood"?!?!?!
Hollla!!
