I tossed and turned all night long and barely got any sleep. I felt so bad for making Spike stop, but I just...wasn't ready. I was, for all intense purposes, a virgin and I just felt that I should get to know who I am before I gave myself to Spike...or anyone for that matter. I watched Spike sleep at one point during the night. He didn't sleep long, but when he did he looked almost peaceful. I'd been hurt that he hadn't slept next to me, but I understood when the sunlight filtered onto the bed and into my eyes. Had he been next to me, I would have woken up next to a pile of dust. And that just wouldn't have been pretty or fun for either of us.

Spike made another demon fetch me some breakfast: donuts and milk. I ate quickly and we left so Spike could stop and get some blood on the way to wherever we were going. I hadn't even bothered to ask him, which is something I would do, just as soon as I could look him in the eye again. I was so embarrassed for the way I reacted that I hadn't been able to look at him all day long. I wanted to reach out and hug him or say something or tell him that I was sorry, but I just...couldn't. After we went to the butcher shop for some blood, Spike ate and we headed back into the sewers.

After the blood stop, I'd gotten up the nerve to ask him what we were doing, which was going back to the hotel. He wanted to see how the others were doing and I thought that was a good idea. I was walking slowly behind him, watching his back, remembering all the bullets he'd taken for me. I wanted to get this cleared up before we got to the hotel and the sewer seemed as good a place as any. I stopped walking and said, "Spike...we should probably talk." He turned around to look at me and I shrieked, "Look out!" I knocked both of us out of the way as a vampire dove past up, nearly missing Spike with a big metal pipe.

He shoved me down and said, "Stay put!" I made a face at his back and began looking for a weapon of some kind. I finally found another metal pipe, smaller, and went to help Spike. I thwacked the vampire in the back of the head with it and he just turned around and back-handed me into the wall. Ouch. I stayed there for a minute and tried to catch my breath. I saw another vampire coming up behind Spike and I called out, "Behind you!"
