I fell asleep listening to Wesley tell me another story. I'm pretty sure it was Little Red Riding Hood, but I couldn't be positive, because I was tired and really only listening to the sound of his voice instead of the words because his voice was soothing. I don't know how long I slept, but I did dream. I dreamed about Pylea and the pretty days where I was chased through the woods like a slave.

And woke up after that dream and then fell back asleep once I reassured myself I was in Los Angeles, not back in my cave. The second set of dreams were all fangs and blood and pain and laughter. I could see both of them in my dreams and they kept talking about how they were going to kill me. The brown haired one, Drusilla, kept telling me over and over how she was going to wear my eyes for earrings. She didn't get the chance, because I woke up again, sweating and scared and thirsty.

I gently got out of bed and walked to the bathroom. I thought I'd hurt a lot more, but thank goodness I didn't. And since I didn't, I took a shower while I was up. I needed to wash away the sweat, as well as the memories from my dreams. The hot water felt wonderful on my cuts and bites and scrapes and when I finally finished, I felt better than I had in a few days.

I had no idea what time it was, even though I was able to tell, almost to the exact minute what time it was in Pylea by the feel of the day, I couldn't do that here. But I'd rather not be able to tell time here than be back in Pylea and be able to tell you exactly what time it was when the guard was out searching for me.

I put on some of the clothes that Cordelia gave me and then peeked out of my bedroom door. I looked left and then right and then stepped outside. I took a deep breath and walked to the stairs that led to the lobby. I peeked around the corner, but didn't see anyone down there. I was still nervous around everybody and now, they knew what kind of trouble I could get myself into, so I was embarrassed along with the nerves.

I took a breath and walked down the steps into the lobby. I didn't see or hear anyone. There was a book sitting on the counter and glancing at it, it looked interesting. I took it and curled up on the red couch outside of Wesley's office. The book was all about demons and spells. Maybe I could make myself useful by reading up on some of the things everyone goes out to kill everyday. I turned to the first page and wished with everything in me that I could.
