If anyone wants real vanilla beans--well, botanically, they're capsules, but who am I to argue with popular parlance--it looks like this batch will be fully ripe in a few weeks.
It's probably V. planifolia, but I wouldn't swear it's not V. pompona. Botany's not my strongest suite, though I'll admit a soft spot for family Orchidaceae. "Endless forms most beautiful," indeed.
[Fred is most of the way up a tree on Deck 03, inspecting a vine wrapped around it. How he got up there is anyone's guess, but the roof of Meth's treehouse was probably involved.
