Prop 8 gets up in California

Nov 06, 2008 07:16

This has upset me greatly and taken the shine off an otherwise sweet election victory. It seems Californian's have passed Proposition 8 which is the proposition which effectively bans gay marriage by stating marriage is only between a man and a woman. I note that Florida (by a huge margin) and Arizona also passed similar laws yesterday.

I'm just so angry and upset about this. Jesus fuck. What difference should a person's sexuality make to their basic human rights? Why should my rights as a heterosexual be different from that of a homosexual? There's not enough love in the world to start with, we really shouldn't be defining who has access to certain experssions of it.

One small light is that Prop 4 (parental notification of abortion amongst other things) seems to have failed.
