Much fun

Went and saw Get Smart last night with P. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at just how enjoyable the movie was. I’d read a few reviews which had dissed it for not being true to the TV show and the characters of Max and 99. And, it wasn’t really, so I can see if you went in with that expectation you may well be disappointed. However, if you go in expecting just a fun, piece of fluff film that has re-imagined Max and 99 differently then you should enjoy it. It was fun picking the cameos and other familiar faces (yay Masi Oka) and I do still love The Rock very much. :)

After that we went for dinner to Shōgun and had teppanyaki. I hadn’t had it for years and it was so very, very good. Apart from the prawn head that was. But I had to try it as I’d only ever eaten them once, way back the first time I’d ever been to a teppanyaki restaurant when I was a kid and my father forced my brother and I to eat them. P ate his in solidarity (or, as he put it, he’d never hear the end of it if I did and he didn’t) and we both agreed that, yep, never again.

Rounded off the evening by sitting in P’s kitchen reading each other (actually out loud together) the first Platinum Grit trade paperback (in the appropriate silly Scottish accents when required) which azahru had leant him. 'Twas rather hard to read after a while as we were both laughing so hard. :)

Good times.
