Just had a VERY distressed Mum on the phone. *sigh* They took my step-Dad's epidural block out early this morning (or last night, not sure - she wasn't making a lot of sense at the start) and his pain was massively intense and uncontrolled. Now he's back on the ward the poor nursing staff are limited so it was taking a while to get pain relief measures happening. As per protocol you have to start with something minor then work your way up. Apparently he was in tears the pain was so bad (and in 22 years I've never seen my step-Dad, even when he had a migraine, complain about pain) They've got him on morphine now, so all should be fine.
Very worried about Mum though, she's just not coping at all (or being particularly rational which is not surprising for a number of reasons). I'm hoping it'll get better for her when Grandma (whom she's carer for) goes into respite for 3 weeks on Monday. Again she told me not to come home, but depending on how she's going next week I just might.
