The sound was heard loud and clear throughout the fifth floor. Loud, obnoxiously pounding footsteps followed, as Fred ran away from the scene of the crime.

What he'd left was not only a hole in the wall, but the start of some serious floor corrosion. It wasn't really on purpose. So what if he'd dribbled a little corroding puddy? They were

Marlow blinked at the scene in front of her.

"Fred?" she asked him, curiously, as she came closer toward him. "What in the world is so funny?"

[fred6weasley]

Tears were streaming down his face as Marlow came into view.

"I..." he breathed out heavily. "I just..."

Words could not express. "Oh Merlin!"

[marlow]

Biting the inside of her cheek to keep herself from laughing as well, Marlow came closer to Fred. She adjusted her books from one arm to the other and raised her eyebrows at the red head.

"Fred, really," she said, having a good idea of why he was laughing so hard. "What did you do?"

[fred6weasley]

"You should've seen it! Marlow, it was beautiful!"

He was so exuberantly happy, it wasn't even funny.
No, it was better than funny.

Hilarious.

"Do you want to see it?"

[marlow]

Duh.

"Duh?" she replied, putting one hand on her hip. "Of course I do."

She looked past Fred, "Where is it?"

There was no time for meaningless nonsense words!
Fred took her by the hand and started pulling her back down the hallways he'd just run through.

When he finally stopped, he opened his arms as if to say, 'look, behold the wonder.'

Before them, the floorboards were partially eaten away near the wall; the wall also containing a nice sized whole in it.

"What do you think?"

[marlow]

Her mouth dropped open, and her eyes widened.

"You did this?" she asked him, turning back to the look at the devious twin.

"Fred.. this is- holy Merlin. Wow."

[fred6weasley]

His eyes glittered as he looked from his masterpiece back to Marlow.

"I know, right?" Really, it was all he could respond with.

[marlow]

She stepped forward, but slowly and examined Fred's handiwork.

She turned her head back to face him, "So, what's this all for?"

[fred6weasley]

Leaning against the wall opposite, he chuckled. "Trying to perfect some new products," Fred said honestly.

[marlow]

"Ones that eat floors?" she asked with another raised eyebrow.

[fred6weasley]

"Well, no," he said, with a shrug. "That was an accident."

[marlow]

"Some accident," Marlow replied, not being able to withhold the giggle that escaped her lips.

She took a step back, careful not to fall through the floors.

"So, what exactly is it supposed to do?" she asked, still staring at the large hole in the wall.

[fred6weasley]

Fred pursed his lips in thought. "This one's supposed to eat away whatever you put the puddy on. Good for wall, door, desk, loo, y'know, whatever kind of destruction you want."

[marlow]

"That's actually quite brilliant," she said with a grin.

She then had a thought, "Wouldn't it be a shame if someone used it on the Slytherin dorms?"

[fred6weasley]

He nodded solemnly. "Such a shame."

And as hard as Fred tried to keep a straight, serious face, he failed miserably when a laugh and grin broke out.
