Random Mini Rant
Okay, so I was reading this thread on TWoP about the worst TV movies, and someone said A Ring of Endless Light, which I just had to chime in about. Now the book which it is based on (by Madeline L'Engle) is one of my absolute favorites of all time, so I was quite anxious to see it. Then one Saturday it was playing on Disney Channel, and I watched it, and wow, it is horrible, and just a mess.
Besides the casting problems (I don't hate her, but Mischa Barton as Vicki? Seriously? And I don't mind Jared Padalecki, but he's not exactly how I pictured Zach. And don't even get me started on the casting of Adam. He definitely didn't have that inner glow or whatever that he was supposed to), they completely ruined the plot. Vicki has to save the dolphins from fisherman or something? I don't really remember exactly, but I do know that there was *nothing* like that in the books, and I hate how they had to change the plot in order to make a movie from it. It was all like cheesy and Disneyfied, while the book is actually deep, and pretty dark.
Anyway, I went on the IMDb page for it, and who else directed it but Greg Beeman. Yes, the same guy who directs Heroes. That doesn't mean anything, but I was surprised. I actually recorded this movie when it was on, and I'm probably gonna go find the DVD and watch it tomorrow. Well, later today. And then when I get back to school, I'm gonna reread the book in order to cleanse my mind. LOL.
And this is so totally random, but I really want to watch Anne of Avonlea. Gosh I love that miniseries.
