Title: Before the show
Author: littlesumo
Rating: PG
Pairing: Dougie/Danny
Disclaimer: This is fiction; although I wish it was true, it isn't (probably *g*).
A/N: _i_know   requested Poynter/Jones, cute, fluffy and tour-themed. I'm not sure I delivered but maybe she'll like it anyhow ^^
And I know, very original title :)

Danny doesn't know what Georgia's fucking problem is. One moment he's minding his own business in their dressing room, the other she's shouting at him about some girl working in their crew, that he apparently spent too much time talking to. He didn't know what to say to that because the accusations were totally absurd, and his mind was on chords and timing anyway, he didn't want to fight. Georgia had huffed at his lack of response and then she'd stormed off.

The girl (tiny, dark-haired; he hadn't noticed more than that about her, she really wasn't his type) had already apologised a hundred times and he'd accepted it already as often.

"It's OK. You didn't do anything."

"I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to upset anyone."

"It's fine, really. She'll calm down, don't worry."

He can feel that she wants to add something else, so he just waves his hand and sits down in a hopefully clear dismissal. He is not in the mood for this now. Not at all. He feels so fucking tense tonight, although rehearsals had gone over pretty perfect (as perfect as they could ever make it). The new songs (the crowd's expectation for them) still make him nervous.

He feels a small hand on his shoulder and he turns around to tell the girl that really, apology accepted, but it isn't her. He comes face to stomach with Dougie, who looks down at him with a pitying look in his eyes.

"I heard the shouting."

Danny sighs. "I'm sorry."

"What for? You didn't do anything, or did you?"

"Dougie!"

"Just checking." His band mate grins, but it doesn't make Danny feel better, so he just sighs again.

"Danny, I might not always understand women - actually, I never do - but I guess she's just a bit exhausted and overwhelmed. She's not used to tour circus yet."

Danny raises an eyebrow. "Mate, where did that insight come from?"

"I dunno, being with Frankie and the girls all the time must have had some influence."

"And next you'll be walking around in stockings and high heels, wearing lipstick?"

"I might..."

They both burst out laughing at that, Danny more because of the incredulity of how easy it is to imagine that.

"You'd make such a pretty lady. Actually, you already are a pretty lady."

Dougie boxes his arm and then spins him around on his chair once.

"Watch it, Jones. Or I'll spin you till you get sick."

"Such a threat, pixie."

"I'll show you pixie!"

Dougie starts to spin the chair again, but Danny is just too heavy and strong to have much of an impact when he doesn't want it to. After one and a half spins, Danny brings the chair to a stop again and mercilessly attacks Dougie's sides with his fingers.

His bassist squeals with breathless laughter, his legs folding under him so he is half on the floor, half on Danny.

"Danny... please... Oh gods, Dan... please stop."

"Yeah, beg for it."

He continues to tickle Dougie but after a second notices that he's stopped squirming around somewhat, looking up at him with a questioning and teasing look in his eyes. Danny replays what just had been said. Oh.

Dougie sees the moment of realisation and they both start laughing, although Danny feels a tiny flutter of... something in his gut, and he cannot help but teasing Dougie some more (with words; his hands are now still, only resting on his friend's sides, halfway under his t-shirt).

"So good at begging, to get just what you want."

"Obviously not good enough."

And Danny doesn't know if Dougie just means because he didn't stop tickling him (at first) or something else entirely, but he doesn't care because the flutter has developed into a low fire and in his imagination Dougie's eyes do some begging of their own.

He uses the hold he already has on the other to pull him up, move one hand into his hair and crush their mouths together.

He can firmly say that he doesn't fancy blokes, even now, but kissing Dougie is nice. Less soft than he'd expected (and he wonders at the part of his brain that had actually thought about it) but a lot of Dougie is unexpected, after all these years Danny still sometimes lets his appearance lead his opinion and expectation.

The kiss gets less intense after a few moments, ending with a peck to Dougie's nose. He draws back but Dougie doesn't let him go far, doesn't let himself be pushed off.

"Guess Georgia shouldn't have been jealous of that cute brunette but your hot and sexy band mate."

Danny smacks his arse for that and Dougie giggles, finally standing up.

"Feeling better? Ready for the show?"

He does, the tenseness has complete left him.

"Wait, did you plan this?!"

"No, not exactly. I had come here to annoy the worries out of you, maybe stuff you with some chocolate, but this turned out so much better."

Danny cannot resist but answer Dougie's wide grin and gets up himself, ready to rock the roof of the venue.
